The NFC Ecosystem

Near Field Communication (NFC)on mobile phones opens up a newworld o applications. To make thishappen, the NFC ecosystem andits inrastructure are required. Thetypical parties involved are:

A bank as Service Provider (SP)

Mobile Network Operator (MNO)

Trusted Service Manager (TSM)

Mobile Payments

To enable mobile payments withinthe NFC ecosystem, the customersbank must have access to the mobilehandset and its secure elementacting as a mobile application issuer,issuing virtual payment cards. Thisis acilitated using virtual datapreparation centers, virtual cardpersonalization bureaus and virtualcard suppliers. Representing fnancialvalue, it must be handled securely.The connecting bridge between theseparties is a TSM: a trusted partythat assures secure exchange oinormation.

Testing is a Must

Mobile payments in an NFCecosystem involve a number oparties interacing and exchangingsecure inormation. Interoperabilityis the key here; thorough testing is

a must beore deployment to themarket.

The main objective o you as anMNO in the NFC Ecosystem is, onthe one hand, to be a reliable linktowards your customers: managingyour customer base and theliecycle o NFC-enabled handsetsand Secure Elements, provisioning

Secure Domain managementprocesses, and delivering withinagreed service levels. On the otherhand, you are interacing withthe other parties in the ecosystem

Being the linking pin between MNOand SP, as a TSM operator you arerequired to smoothly exchange

inormation among these parties.When an SP sends you a message(e.g. install application), you needto perorm several validationtests on the message; check yoursystem (e.g. SE audit, card contentmanagement, etc); request the MNO

which calls or correct messagingand high-volume payload handling.

With the Collis TSM Test Suite, youcan simulate other parties (i.e. SP/TSM) to send requests/messagesto your system and validate the

correct behavior o your system.This assists in testing and validatingi your system responds correctly inconormance with GP standards.
