Believing Sarah needs to date more, her sister, Carol (Elizabeth Perkins), creates an online dating profile for her. Simultaneously, Jake (John Cusack) reluctantly decides to try Internet dating. Sarah and Jake meet, and though both agree they are not interested in a serious relationship, their chemistry is undeniable. NATIONAL MUSEUM OF CIVIL WAR MEDICINE, LUNCH at T DINER, & MONOCACY BATTLEFIELD, THURSDAY, JULY 14, FREDERICK, MD: Depart from Security at 10AM. Return to Collington approximately 4PM/4:30PM. The National Museum of Civil War Medicine is the premier center for the preservation and research of the legacy of Civil War Medical innovation and humanitarianism. We will tour the Museum from 11-12:45PM. After the tour we will have lunch at The Double T Diner, a 50’s diner style family restaurant serving tasty foods. We will dine from 1-2:30 PM and next we will ride through the Monocacy Battlefield, where the Confederacy carried out a bold plan to turn the tide of the Civil War in their favor. They planned to capture Washington, D.C. and influence the elections of 1864. On July 9, 1864, however, Federal soldiers outnumbered them three to one,

fighting along the banks of the Monocacy River in an effort to buy time for Union reinforcement to arrive in Washington D.C. COMMUNITY MEDICATION DESTRUCTION DAY, THURSDAY, JULY 14, 10AM – 12PM – CLINIC: This is an opportunity to clean out meds that you are no longer using. Come to the Clinic and we will destroy your medication. This service is being offered for free. If necessary, we may need to schedule a second date. FROM THE LIBRARY: July's Feature of the Month is Large Print and Travel books. For additional Large Print and Travel books, look at the labels on shelves to the left of the main entrance. The Biography and Humor books have been returned to their locations and can be found by looking at the labels.
A reminder: all library books, even those located on the Feature of the Month shelves, are to be signed out. We used to have 21 Cartoon books. After being displayed as featured books in June, 11 of them are missing and not signed out. How sad! Please bring them back.
COLLINGTON PHILANTHROPY presents “Estate Planning Essentials” on Tuesday, July 19 at 1:00 PM in The Bird Room. Attorney Stephen R. MEETING REMINDER: On Wednesday, July 20, at 2:30PM in the Ping Pong Room, COMPASSION & CHOICES will conduct a meeting for those interested in considering joining a Collington Action Team to spread C&C's message to citizens and legislators in Prince Georges County. All are welcome. MUSICIANS: You are invited to come to the next meeting of the Music Committee on July 20th at 10 AM in the Board Room to help plan the concerts to dedicate our new Steinway piano. We would like to present a concert to showcase Collington residents playing music not heard in the Ivy Room. Would you be willing to prepare a short duet or solo, a movement from a larger work, or a piece with an instrument with piano accompaniment to perform in May 2017?
SHABBAT SERVICE AND DINNER, FRIDAY, JULY 29, 5:30PM – PRIVATE DINING ROOM: The next Sabbath service and dinner for Collington's Jewish Community is scheduled for Friday, July 29, beginning promptly at 5:30 pm in the dining room. Sign up by calling the dining room (x2135) no later than Thursday, July 28 at 4 pm. If we will not be in the Private Dining Room, we will post the new location at the podium. BOOK CLUB: You become the Editor for the September discussion. The changes are yours to make. Examples: let’s say that you read a book/saw a movie/acted in Little Theater/served in the military, and the ending was abc. SOUTH COUNTY CONCERT ASSOCIATION: The SCCA is in its 41st season and is having 5 shows. All shows are at 7:30 PM on various days, Collington will provide transportation to the following shows only; Birth of a Beat 9/29/2016, Alina Kiryayeva (pianist) 10/17/2016; Tenore 12/14/2016; Kubecca 1/23/2017; Retro Rockets 2/11/2017; Jim Witter: I Write the Songs 3/20/2017; Capitol Steps 5/23/2017. These concerts are held at Southern High School, Harwood, MD. For more information, call 410-956-4881 or 301-261-5802. Total membership is $55 and also includes 5 additional performances of Anne Arundel Community Concert Association and 6 of the Maryland Concert Series. For all other subscription series, interest sheets are in the Trip Book so that we can get an accurate count of who will attend so we can plan accordingly for transportation. The Rodney Richardson Ensemble will celebrate one of the greatest jazz guitarists of the last century, Charlie Christian's, 100th birthday with a concert of his music. Rodney Richardson, guitar, will be joined by his quartet featuring Joe Herrera, trumpet, as they play influential works that have resonated throughout decades. BOWIE BAYSOX GAME, TUESDAY, JULY 26, BOWIE, MD: Departs from Security at 5:45PM. The game will start at 7:05PM vs. Hartford and tickets are $7.00. If you purchase tickets online, the tickets will be $8.50 (convenience fee included). We will be returning to Collington at approximately 10:00/10:30PM.
