Do’s & Don’ts

Do write a formal email before any event. (No abbreviations, don’t write you are texting, sign your name.)

Do say what you like about the school. (Size, location, have your major, you met Coach, etc.)

Do say why you like the school. (Why would a player from Texas want to leave home?)

Do your research on the Team and School. (Go to their webpage, FB, Twitter, Instagram.)

Do practice and be prepared for tournaments. (Coaches may only watch you for a few minutes. Coaches can go back and watch video of games, so play hard every minute..)

Do’s & Don’tsDon’t have your parents do all the talking.

(We want to get to know you, not your parent.)

Don’t write to the wrong coach. (Be careful with cut and paste.)

Don’t email 40 coaches at same time. (Use BBC!)

Don’t show up unannounced. (Go through your club coach to schedule a visit. Tell college coach when you plan to do a Campus Tour.)

Don’t have inappropriate things on social media!

Don’t text on your phone during your Visit.
