Interior RenderingCommunity Environment:

The 15,400 square foot project serves both as an educational facility for the College of Southern Nevada and a fire station for the City of Las Vegas. The objective of the project was to construct an integrated facility providing seamless interaction between both institutions.

The project reflects the needs of the community for a fire station and also serves as a learning tool connecting the students to their community.

Lobby SectionLearning Environment:

The building lobby is designed to celebrate Las Vegas fire fighters’ profession and history by creating a display wall and having direct view into the apparatus bays allowing learning opportunities.

The museum like lobby is a bridging element that displays education, Las Vegas fire fighters history and a view into a fully functional fire station.

Building SectionPhysical Environment :

The building is designed to meet LEED Silver Certification. The building utilizes sustainable design strategies which include:-Site xeriscape landscaping-Water use reduction-Optimize energy performance-Renewable energy (50 kw roof solar system)

-Reflective roof-Ventilation effectiveness and controllability of systems -Daylight control & views

Concept SketchPlanning Process:

The building expresses the dynamic nature of fire fighting, exhibit sustainable design strategies and establish a vivid college campus with community presence.

This was achieved by the vigorous planning of the two public agencies; The College of Southern Nevada and The City of Las Vegas, working together to provide a unique building type which serves its community.
