From the Principal
Welcome back to another action packed Term!Last Term was just amazing for all of those involved in the musical, Wizard of Oz. What a great opportunity for you to see your children onstage where they can build their confidence and creative flair. It is a unique opportunity for students to be involved in such an inclusive K to 12 event.Charlton offers something for every student to pursue and develop their gifts. Whether they are sporting, academic, creative Arts focused or culinary and technical, students at Charlton have a chance to learn and grow in this positive environment. The advertisements for the Principal’s position are now public and we have had a number of expressions of interest so far. Applications close mid-May. Please pray that an accomplished educator, who loves Jesus and is committed to Christian education finds his or her way to my vacated chair. The Prospectus is on our web page if you want to have a look and/or pass it on to a suitable applicant. As I have prepared for the Christian Education Foundation AGM, I have looked over the many reports which have been written during my time at Charlton. It is so humbling to see the growth in numbers and the continuing building programs which demonstrate God’s
gracious provision for us here at Charlton. Sometimes we take our facilities and staff for granted. It’s good to look back to where we have come from and how we have developed. Building wise, we should be in to the new Library by the end of the year. We are grateful for the parents who have helped out with the moving process and for the staff who are making sure it all happens smoothly and calmly, especially Leanne, Ruth and the Maintenance team supervised by Vicki Gunning. The new Canteen is coming along nicely and everyone is looking forward to its completion. The Carpark is now in use for staff and students which should free up the top carpark for parents to use.HSC students have now commenced their final studies and will be working hard to ensure they achieve the best results they can. If you are the parent of an HSC student please ensure they are averaging two hours per night to ensure they are putting in enough time to achieve maximum results. In the lead up to exams, more time may be required for students who want to earn a Band 5 or Band 6.I am saddened to announce that Mr Fraser Hannam has offered his resignation due to difficult family circumstances including the death of his mother. Fraser has been a gifted
and passionate advocate for Christian Education, a great teacher and learner, and a very funny and supportive co-worker. His role as Head of Middle School was filled with grace and flair, as was his recent role as Director of Teaching and learning. His unique style of leadership flavoured with compassion and silliness has been much appreciated by all who have served with him. We wish him every blessing for a bright future filled with Science Fiction, PhD study and a wonderful family time with his Dad and, beautiful wife Annette as well as his three children. Fraser will be greatly missed and very difficult to replace. More news about that later. As we enjoy the term together let’s remember our theme from Philippians 2 (NLT).3Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. 5You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.In ChristSue
What an incredible experience we would have if our hearts and minds were filled with these things! As we begin Term 2 this year, our theme will be integrity.
In it’s most basic sense, integrity means wholeness, lacking no division. So what does that look like in a person? Is it something that would characterise you? Are you divided? Different in one situation than in another? If we are honest, we would admit that it is often a struggle to have integrity in our everyday lives.
Moral integrity is something we should cherish and teach our children, because living without it destroys the very fabric of the human soul. How are you growing in integrity?

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable,
if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think
about these things.

ANZAC DAY Monday 25 AprilYou did us proud!
Our students (and their parents) did us very proud yet again as they represented our College in an ANZAC service held in Toronto last Monday.
With well over 50 students marching, Charlton really stood out as a significant and beautifully dressed contingent, probably our biggest number ever. The
speeches by our College Captains were extremely well done and well received.
Thank you to all who supported this important community event.

The Bedwetting Institute has designed an effective program that addresses the causes of bedwetting and offers a practical and achievable method of curing the problem.
A DVD based program to cure bedwetting, with Dr Mark Condon and Physiotherapist, Margaret O’Donovan has been developed by the Bedwetting Institute.
It outlines a successful four step program for parents to implement at home with their children.
