This is the first newsletter of the school year. Newsletters will be sent out monthly. In each issue, you will find information about: college fairs, scholarships, college and career planning, ACT/SAT test dates, and important dates to note.

The window has opened for all
sophomores and juniors to
register for the PSAT/NMSQT.
The PSAT/NMSQT is a
preliminary practice version of
the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude
Test which is a college
admission test).
The test will be administered on
Wednesday, October 16,
2019 at 7:45 -11:30 a.m.
in room F102 here at
Hazelwood Central.
The cost of the PSAT Test
is $17.00.
All payment should be taken to
the Cashier Office NO LATER
THAN Wednesday, OCTOBER 9,
2019. CASH ONLY accepted for
payment. Once the students
make a payment, they will
receive a free study guide.
ASVAB TEST
If you are interested in taking the ASVAB test,
please see Mrs. Adams to sign-up. The ASVAB will be given on Monday, October
28, 2019 at Hazelwood Central in Room E107. The test will begin at 8:00 a.m.-
11:00 a.m. and take approximately 3 hours.
The test is available for all grade 10, 11 and 12
students. There is no charge to take the test. Students will assume no
obligation to join the military by taking the
ASVAB test.

Program is recruiting for
the 2019-2020 Saturday
Academy for students in
9th-12th grade. The
Saturday Academy is held
the first two Saturdays of
the month.
The program begins
October 2019 through
March 2020 from 7:45
a.m. to 12 p.m.
The Academy offers
academics enrichment
courses in mathematics,
science, written and
oral communication,
career research,
personal and
professional
development, college
planning and ACT
preparation. Students
that are eligible to
participate in the
Saturday Academy
Program must meet the
following criteria:
Currently enrolled
in grades 9-12
A 2.5 or higher
cumulative grade
point average

$52.00 - Includes reports for you, your high school, and up to four college choices (if valid codes are provided when you register).
ACT (With Writing)
$68.00- Includes reports for you, your high school, and up to four college choices (if
valid codes are provided when you register). The $16.00 writing test fee is refundable, on written request, if you are absent on test day or switch to the ACT (No Writing) before testing begins.
Late registration fee (U.S. or Canada only)
Add $30.00- For registration or test date change submitted during the late period for a national test date.
******You can get a fee waiver if you receive free/reduced lunch. Fee
waivers DO NOT cover late fees.

The #CAP Program is FREE program designed to assist high school students andtheir families with the college application process. Participating students will meet monthly and receive assitance with college applications, preparation for the ACT/ SAT, and assistance with personal statements and scholarship essays. Students will also receive help with identifying scholarships and navigating the financial aid process.

COLLEGE BUS TOUR The College Connection is
hosting a Fall College Bus Tour.
The College Connection Tour
will be held on (September 12-
13, 2019). The students will
have the opportunity to visit
Lincoln University, Central
Missouri State University,
Central Missouri and Southern
Illinois University Carbondale.
This campus visit gives students
the opportunity to get a
firsthand view of college and
campus life. The cost of the
trip is $175 which includes
hotel, transportation, meals,
college tour shirt and campus
tours. Students are responsible
for 1 meal (dinner Saturday
night). There are ONLY 24 slots
available.
Student Requirements
Must be a 10th-12th
grader
All students must
have 80% attendance
and no disciplinary
actions.
All students must
have a 2.5 GPA
