Cars not only come in bigsizes, they are also scaled tofit into the palm of your hands. From Ferrari to Volkswagen, every rare model car has astory, which makes collectingthem even more fun. If youreally want to go all the waywith your collection, certaincompanies have produced veryexclusive model cars, that wereonly made in small quantitiesor that are even one of a kind. But what are the top 10 mostexpensive model cars of today?Find out in this article.
10. Matchbox 1967 MagirusDeutz Crane (No. 30)Modelcar collectors could only dreamof one day stumbling upon a
1967 no. 30 matchbox craneat a neighbourhood garage sale.If it was back in the 1980s, heor she would have paid €10 forit. Now a brown no. 30 craneis worth €13,000.
9 . B e a t n i k B a n d i tHotwheelsOne of the originalSweet 16 cars of theHotwheels. The car is futuristicand made out of fibreglass witha see-through plexiglass bubble
top. It doesn't get any moreretro than this. Originally themodel car was designed in1963. The line came out indifferent colours, but the rarestof them all was the hot pink
car which was made in aneffort to get girls interested intoy cars as well. Unfortunately, this plan didn't work and thepink car was discontinued, making it now a rare car tofind, so rare that the hot pinkBandit is now worth around€15,000.
8. Ferrari 250 GTOThe Ferrari250 GTO might be the bestFerarri in the world. The modelsize cars (scale 1:8) are not badeither. The 250 GTO comes indifferent models but thecompany who makes them,
named Amalgam, sell theFerrari 250 GTO for more than€18,000.
7. Dinky Pre-war No.22DD e l i v e r y Va n ' W. E .Boyce'?Dinky Vehicles are apar t icular h i t amongstcollectors. The most expensivedie-cast vehicle ever sold wasthe pre-war 'type 22' WEBoyce from Dinky toys. Dinkytoys began its life in 1934 as aMeccano spin-off. The vehicles
originally were sold as anaccessory for railway kits. Thesmall car today is worth€22,000.
6. Tomica Z432 Datsun?Acollector's model car of thehighest order: Tomica Datsun. This beauty is made from realplatinum and took a monthtomake. This very small carwas made to celebrate Tomica's40th anniversary, six years ago.Tomica started making car
models in 1970 and millionsof children (and not so young
children) have played withthem ever since. This exclusivecar cost the owner a whopping€80,000.
5 . Vo l k s w a g e n B e a c hBomb?Th i s Ho twhee l sVolkswagen Beach Bomb is aprototype. Of course, the factthat this model is a prototypemakes it special but another
factor is the surfboards that arehanging out of the backwindow of the car. Theprototype is dated back to1969. These cars are made inrose colour with a blackinterior. The size of the modelis also rare because it'sunusually large. It's worth€125,000.
4. 40th-anniversary HotWheels? There was only onemodel of this car produced forthe Ho t Whee l s 40 thanniversary, issued in 2008. Acelebrity jeweller designed thisspecial car made of 18 ct whitegold, 1,388 blue diamonds, 988
black diamonds, 319 white
diamonds and 8 rubies. It isworth around €140,000.
3. Bugatti Veyron ?If theprevious 7 models were tooordinary for your taste, thenthe next luxury car is sure tobe more your thing. TheBugatti Veyron. It's a 1:18 scaleof the original and is made of24 ct solid gold and platinum
plus 7.2 ct of a single cutdiamond! The only downsideof this beauty is the fact that ittook two months to finish.
2. Lamborghini AventadorDoyou have your heart set on abeautiful Lambo but fancysomething a bit smaller foryourself? Well, the 1:8 scaledLamborghini Aventador will
suit you better. This Lambocost around €6 million. What
is great about this model is thefact that it is an exact replicaof the real deal, outside andinside.
1. Lamborghini AventadorGold? The last model on ourlist is the LamborghiniAventador Gold edition. Justas number 9, the Lambo is 1:8scaled and made wi th
incredible detail. What makesthis Lambo even better is thefact that the car is wrapped ingold. The real thing cost around€400,000, but this baby isworth €7.5 million, whichmakes this car the mostexpensive model car in theworld!
Custom Restoration of a Ford Cortina#25 Matchbox Lesney Regular WheelsI decided to restore this model not into itsoriginal Brown colour, but rather into the AfricanSafari Model (that of the 1967 African safariRally car of Hughes & Snyder) the model hadrather bad pitting and the pit marks had to beclosed up, for this I used primer and then sandedthe roof down, once flush, another layer of
primer had to be sprayed on. The interior wassprayed black to match the original, decals hadto be designed from scratch, and alone took 2hours to cut and place, the bonnet is a largematt decal in black. In the Next Newsletter,Restoration of a 1966 Ford Galaxie
