    Let us pray:

Almighty, eternal God, when the Spirit descended upon

Jesus at his baptism in the Jordan, you revealed him as

your own beloved Son. Keep us, your children born of

water and the Spirit, faithful to our calling. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one

God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer:Leader: God of life, help us to remember,

that, for some, the earth is parched.

    We lift to you

those for whom clean water is

not a basic right but a luxury,

    We cry out, O God,

against conflict and violencethat leaves crops to wither

and drives families from their homes

to lands where fresh, clean water is only a dream.

All: In this season of new life,

    may we heed your call

    to hunger and thirst

    for righteousness

and may your justice and righteousness

roll down as an ever-flowing stream.

    Baptism is the Christian

    religious practice with the

use of water as anevidence of a new born

    Christian. There are a few

    types of Christian Baptism

    such as submersion,

immersion, pouring orsprinkling. The baptism is

    an act of Gods salvation

    and given new birth

    through water and spirit.

What does baptism mean for Christians today?

    Prayer - Susan Helene Kramer

    Think of someone you

    would like to prayer for

    today. Maybe they are

    recently baptised, maybe

    they are not. Perhaps you

    want to pray that more

    people will come to know

    Christ as their Lord and

    therefore be baptised.

    Maybe you want to

    remember your own

    baptism. In the silent of

    your heart think of thisperson.

In the Roman Catholic Christian tradition,Baptism is the first sacrament,

a ceremony of welcome in the Christian Community.

Pause for thought as we begin a New Year, are there people you need to welcome

into your life, whether for the first time, or by forgiving them and starting anew?
