Owning a restored antique car allows you to display your own style and class.

Enables you to meet people with similar interests.

Allows you to travel to different places and share your hobby.

Costs…

Depends on make, model, and starting condition.

Approximate cost: $50,000. Depends on labor applied

(professional restoration). Various parts needed. Doing it yourself may cost less but,

you could lack in experience.

Time…

Depends on starting condition. Must be spent on both small and

large parts/details. Once restored, the car must be

maintained. Make sure all work is completed

correctly.

Time…

Looking for cars that fit your requirements to restore takes time.

Rarer models may require parts specific to the model, which take more time to find.

Rare Cars…

When collecting, you may come across a rare car.

Rare cars are more interesting, especially when traveling.

They are worth more if you decide to sell it.

May require more time spent restoring, if the model is old and unfamiliar.

Tools…

Even before purchasing a car to restore, money will need to be spent on tools.

If you don’t have the correct tools, it can make restoration much harder, or not possible at all.

Some can be found in your garage, while others you’d have to go out and buy.

Cost depends on size and what it is used for.

Touring and Exhibiting… “Touring” is when you drive/take your cars to

exhibits or shows. Touring adds to time, since a lot of collectors

go on more than one tour a year. Some trips may be hundreds of miles from home.

Tours are optional, but they give car owners a great way to tell their stories and talk about their cars.

Touring can also add to cost because of gas prices and travel expenses to and from the show.

Fun Facts… The 1913 Havers Six is one of the rarest cars

in the world with only 3 known left. Lauren’s grandfather owns 2.

The record for the most expensive car sold in an auction is held by a  Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa that sold for $16,390,000 in August of 2011.

The 1904 Rolls-Royce 10 hp Two-Seater is currently in the Guinness World Records as the most expensive veteran car to be sold, at $7,254,290 ($8,130,952 in 2013).
