Collected Lives of the Saints By Jennifer Gregory Miller, http://ww.familyfeastandferia.wordpress.com I have many books with collected lives of the saints. My favorites are written in a narrative, “living books” style. The stories are captivating, easy to read-aloud or read alone. I’ve collected these books over the years. The books could be read alone, but they are also good resources to use for history study, the Liturgical year readings, Character and Virtue illustrations, and sacramental preparation. I don’t always remember which saints are included in each book, so I decided to type up the lists of saints included. Below is a list of the books, then each book has the individual information for each book. (OOP means out-of-print.) I plan to eventually compile a saint spreadsheet, but this is the first step. 1) Berardi, Mary R. 22) Windham, Joan. Story Library of the Saints, Volumes 1-3, by, Catholic Press, 1974, Two-color illustrations by: Elizabeth Andrewes, Lois Axeman, Mona Doneux, Ree George, Anne Lumsden, Frank Russell, Kurt Werth, and Eugene Winslow. Joan Windham wrote many books of saints' lives. This is a collection of all the stories from her various books. A second choice would be Sixty Saints for Girls and Sixty Saints for Boys, also out-of-print, but perhaps easier to find, as they were reprinted in the 1980s.“The Story Library of the Saints” is arranged by alphabetically, 129 saints total. The table of contents is in Volume 1. Volume 3 has the 1969 General Roman Calendar, Patron saints list, list of Emblems of the Saints, some Baptismal Names, and Looking for your Saint? – list of names to find corresponding patron saint in the volumes. The layout of the volumes isn’t ideal, because there really isn’t an index, nor a list of saints for each volume. But it does seem to have all her writings. The two-color illustrations are by a long list of people: Elizabeth Andrewes, Lois Axeman, Mona Doneux, Ree George, Anne Lumsden, Frank Russell, Kurt Werth, and Eugene Winslow. The stories are delightful. It’s the narrative style that is so attractive. To get a taste of her writing, you can read St. Wenceslaus and St. Martin of Tours
