Victoria Figure of the Year 2017, designed by Neil Faulkner, personifies the rosy colours, the heady perfumes and the bountiful floral displays of an English garden on a summer’s day. Victoria’s cream dress combines a fine lacy bodice with a multi-tiered skirt and delicate sprays of roses and garden flowers in soft pink trace the sweeping and swirling hemline.
This exceptional figurine includes exquisite detailing with handmade peony-style roses adorning the neckline and bodice of the dress and the top of the skirt.

Neil Faulkner’s design for the 2017 Mother’s Figure of the Year, Precious Memories, recreates an enchanting moment shared by a mother and daughter. The girl’s pale lemon dress features a delicate lace bodice and a fine gold line traces the soft flounces of her pretty dress. A butterfly adorned hair slide matches her dress and the youngster gazes in wonderment as a small butterfly rests on her outstretched hand.
Her mother’s softly draping lilac gown is tied at the waist with a cream belt decorated with a floral brooch and she holds a bouquet of late summer flowers. Exquisite details including pearl jewellery and a gold line around the hem of her skirt add elegance to her outfit.

The Language of Flowers collection is inspired by the centuries old custom of sending messages based on the symbolic meaning of different flowers, such as red roses for romantic love and lilies of the valley for happiness. The practice was particularly popular in Victorian times when men and women used gifts of fragrant flowers to express emotions and passions that could never be uttered aloud. Neil Faulkner has combined the sentiments and the vibrant colours of flowers to create a collection of elegant and beautiful figurines.

Radiant in an azure blue gown, True Love holds a basket packed with dainty forget-me-not flowers conveying the most heartfelt message of love. The basket includes 15 handmade flowers, each one exquisitely painted in shades of dark and pale blue and soft pink. More fine details such as an embossed forget-me-not floral motif on her dress, an ornate platinum cuff bracelet and matching necklace add finishing touches to this exceptional figurine. True Love’s abundant locks of glossy brunette hair provide striking contrast to the blue tones of her dress and floral basket.
The botanical name for the vibrant forget-me-not is Myosotis, which derives from the Greek word mus meaning mouse and ous for ear, because the plant’s leaves are shaped like mouse’s ears. Meanwhile, the name forget-me-not, it is said to have come from a German legend in which a lover, while gathering these flowers fell into a river and cried “forget me not” as he drowned. The blue variety is most common but it can be in shades of sky blue through to mauve and azure blue as well as white, cream, pink and striped varieties.

The rose has an array of distinct meanings depending on colours and number in a bouquet. Red roses express a deep emotion of love, and a dozen red roses usually signifies “Be Mine”. Exuberant yellow roses express joy and friendship but without the romantic overtones. White roses reflect purity and innocence, hence its appeal as a bridal bloom. Sweetness and innocence is denoted by a pale pink flower, but a deeper pink shade means profound gratitude and appreciation. It’s an orange rose for passion and a lavender one for love at first sight. Blue roses are not naturally found so these signify the unattainable and black or very dark red roses, farewell.

Chrysanthemum comes from the Greek word “Chrys” meaning golden (the colour of the original flower), and “anthemon”, meaning flower. This name was given to it by Carolus Linnaeus, a Swedish naturalist who is also famed as the father of modern taxonomy. Today, the Chrysanthemum flowers bloom in various forms, and can be daisy-like or take a pompom or button shape and are available in a wide range of colours including yellow, white, purple, and red. The general sentiment conveyed by chrysanthemums is one of loyalty and friendship.

The People’s Princess shows Diana at the height of elegance as she attended the Cannes Film Festival in 1987. She wears a powder blue, strapless bandeau chiffon dress with matching scarf, designed by one of Diana’s favourite designers, Catherine Walker. Neil Welch has styled the figurine with matching clutch bag and shoes, and Diana, Princess of Wales wears stunning pendant earrings and an intricate bracelet chosen to complement her sapphire engagement ring.

A Loving Mother is inspired by a portrait photograph of Diana, Princess of Wales taken with the young princes -William and Harry - in 1988 on Prince Charles’s 40th birthday. The original photograph was taken in the garden at Highgrove House and shows William with his arms around her neck and Harry sitting closely next to her. In this detailed study, Neil Welch has captured the strong and warm affection and the love and the happiness existing between Diana and her sons.

On November 20th 2017 Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II & HRH Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary and to commemorate this landmark occasion, Royal Doulton has created a limited edition figurine. The portrait of the royal couple is inspired by an official photograph taken to mark the Diamond Jubilee of The Queen’s accession to the throne in February 2012.
The Queen’s crown is known as the State Diadem and this stunning circlet is made from 1333 diamonds with a double band of 169 pearls. It dates from 1820 when it was made for King George IV. The Queen wore it during the procession to Westminster Abbey prior to her coronation in 1953 and she also wears it annually at the State Opening of Parliament. The diamond necklace and earrings she wears are known as the Coronation Necklace and Earrings. These were commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1858 and were worn by her at her Diamond Jubilee in 1887, and since then by Queens Alexandra, Mary and Elizabeth at their coronations and on other state occasions. The Queen’s engagement ring and her bracelet - a
wedding gift from the Duke of Edinburgh - were made from diamonds from a tiaraformerly owned by his mother, PrincessAlice of Battenberg. The Duke designedand commissioned the jewellery fromLondon jeweller Philip Antrobus.
Across her State Dress, The Queen wears the blue Garter Riband and pinned on to this are the Royal Family orders of King George V and King George VI, and also the Lesser George Emblem. Below this, on her dress she also wears the Garter Star.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s uniform consists of a tailcoat with standing collar, gold braids to the sleeves, gold shoulder boards, gold chains and buttons, a black and gold belt and gold laced black trousers. The Duke also carries a ceremonial sword. The Duke proudly wears service medals from the Second World War and Jubilee and Coronation medals. He also has the Order of Merit - a red and blue cross worn on a red and blue ribbon around his neck - and wears the Royal Victorian Chain.
