TorepairadamagedEndNotelibrary:

3. Inthedialogthatappears,locateandselectthelibrarythatneedstoberepaired,andclickOpen.

4. EndNotecreatesacopyofthelibrarywiththesuffix"-Saved"addedtothename.Forexample,ifyouwererepairingalibrarycalled"References"theoriginallibrarywouldremainuntouchedandanew,repairedlibrarycalled"References-Saved"wouldbecreatedinthesamelocation.

Oncethenewlibraryhasbeensaved,youshouldbeabletoopenitanduseitinplaceofthedamagedlibrary.

Differences Between Saved Libraries & the Original

ThepurposeoftheRecoverLibrarycommandistorecoverasmanyreferencesfromtheoriginallibraryaspossible.Thismeansthatitmayalsorecoverreferencesthathadpreviouslybeendeletedfromthelibrary,butnotyetpurgedfromthefileitself.Iftherearemorereferencesrecoveredinthesavedlibrarythanexistedatthetimetheoriginallibrarywasdamaged,itmeansthatEnd-Notewasabletoreconstructreferencesthathadrecentlybeendeleted.Thesereferencesmustbedeletedagain.

Termlistsarenotrecoveredwiththelibrary.Consequently,youwillneedtorebuildeachtermlistbyselectingDefineTermListsfromtheToolsmenu,highlightingthelist,andthenclickingUpdateListtofillthetermlistwiththetermsusedinyourlibrary.

Imagescannotberepaired,butaresimplycopiedfromtheoriginallibrarysDATAfoldertothenewDATAfolder.

Merging LibrariesCopying References in LibrariesYoucanalsousetheCopyandPastecommandsintheEditmenutotransferreferences.Selectthereferencesthatyouwanttocopyandselect Copy(Ctrl+C)fromtheEditmenu.OpenthelibrarytowhichyouwanttoaddthereferencesandselectPaste(Ctrl+V).
