Project Overview Completed July 2014, Toledo Zoo’s 2.1 MegaWatt solar array consisting of 28,000 solar panels,

was developed by Rudolph/Libbe and a sister company, GEM Energy, with collaboration from TTL Associates and the City of Toledo, to generate about 30% (approx. $200,000 per year) of the zoo's annual electricity needs.

The City of Toledo utilized funding from the U.S. EPA Brownfield Coalition Assessment grant the City was awarded in 2012 to allow TTL to conduct Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments that were completed in 2014.

Through this project, The City of Toledo was awarded a Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) Phytoremediation Grant through the Ohio Division of Natural Resources Division of Forestry and planted approximately 69 trees and 173 shrubs on the property.

2012 GLRI Phytoremediation : $40,000.00

Private Investment: $5,400,000.00
