Can you believe summer is already coming to an end? You know what that means, Super Raffle time, my favorite event of the year! When Kim asked me to co-chair this event, with the help and guidance of Shawn Michaud, I couldn’t say no, not only because it’s my favorite event but it’s the one event that is the major sponsor in the company I work for.

As you all know, Coldwell Banker Plourde Real Estate Super Raffle sells out every year so get your tickets quickly! This year we are making a few small changes that you don’t want to miss. There will still be 50/50, a chance to win an extra ticket, and a chance at some beautiful jewelry from Day’s Jewelers but we are increasing the cash prizes and adding one. This year the top three prizes will be $3,000, $1,500 and $750. All names

called before we get to the top 10 will go into a second chance drawing. One name will be picked to win $500 cash sponsored by Choice Wealth Advisors. You must be present to win so don’t even think about leaving early!

Oh, I almost forgot to add–we are extending Happy Hour! Happy Hour will be 5:00–6:30 p.m. so you all have more time to mingle and network. And is sponsored by Bar Harbor Bank and Trust.

I look forward to seeing all of you on September 27th at the Waterville Elks Lodge. Can’t attend? You can still buy a ticket and we will get your prize to you after the event. Want to be involved but don’t have the time to volunteer? You could donate an item or service from your business. Over 400 community members attend so, it’s a great way to get your business name out there – big or small!

Get ready to have some fun, spend it with great people and win some fabulous prizes!

—Heather

The Maine Heritage Policy Center’s (MHPC) report “The Will of the People?,” was recently released at a press conference at the Welcome Center inside the Maine State House.

MHPC CEO Matt Gagnon and policy analyst Jacob Posik, the principal author of the report, revealed new data on where the money for our ballot question campaigns is truly coming from. They demonstrated how the process has been exploited by outside actors to fund the dramatic spike in utilization of Maine’s ballot initiative process.

The report highlights dozens of checks and balances on ballot initiative and referendum processes which are employed in other states, but are not used in Maine. The data compiled in MHPC’s report provides the most accurate estimates to date regarding the real amount of dollars contributed to groups supporting or opposing ballot question campaigns between 2009 and 2017.

Bernie Doble started his career with a passion in machining, working part time as a machinist. His business journey started in his garage at his home in 1995 which later became a power sports business to serve the community and beyond. Trailside Performance opened in 2001 to serve the central Maine area with quality outdoor recreation products backed up a reliable service and parts department. In 2002, a showroom was added to the store building.

In 2006, it added a 1,500-square foot service building and purchased 70 acres of commercial property for road frontage space. In 2013, its boat storage building was built allowing its customers the option of both outside and inside storage. Trailside remains at the same location but has grown over the years bringing in more product lines from the leading manufacturers to accommodate customer needs.

In the beginning of 2017 its Newport store on Moosehead Trail officially opened for business. It offers residential and commercial grade equipment for all your outdoor power

needs including mowers, zero turns, tractors, diesel tractors, open and enclosed trailers, boats, docks and more. It also carries a selection of handheld equipment including blowers, trimmers, edgers, brush cutters and chainsaws.

The Newport location carries a selection of outdoor recreational products including enclosed and open trailers, docks, and plows. It has an offsite display of Mahindra tractors and attachments, and the service department offers warranty, maintenance and repair work.

The team at Trailside Performance attends three trade shows annually: The Maine Snowmobile Show at the Augusta Civic Center in October, The Bangor Boat Show in March, and the Augusta Boat show in March. This past August, it attended the

Windsor Fair all week. It set up tractors, trailers, plows, sleds, and more. It was a great family atmosphere to bring your children, grandchildren, grandparents, and friends! The entire team looks forward to working with you and invites you in to see its selection of products. They are there to answer any questions you have and steer you in the right direction when it comes to purchasing a product that will exceed your needs.
