In my mind, a house is a building in which an individual or individuals live in to satisfy their basic need of shelter. A home, however, is a place

where one can let their guard down, relax, and enjoy the company of the ones they love. What makes my house a home is the people who live

here and the environment which is created by those people.I live with my mom, dad, brother, sister, cat, and two dogs, and everybody is part of the family. My brother has baseball three times a week,

my sister has soccer four times a week, my mom takes them to practices, when my dads working (hes a ship pilot) hes driving all around the

south sound, and I work. Needless to say, our household is pretty busy. However, one thing remains constant: no matter how many people are

at home come dinner time, we always sit down for dinner. Its a chance to talk about each others day, catch up, and simply be in the company

with the ones they love. We have done this for as long as I can remember, and it started with my parents instilling this tradition. It is this custom

that creates a friendly and loving environment and in turn makes our house feel like a home.

Also, during the summer, our house is the place to be. We live on the water, and we always have people over enjoying the sun on the dock.

Friends of mine, my brother, and my sister always come over to hang out and have a good time. Sounds of kids laughing fills the warm summer

air; something that I always look forward to when the sun starts coming out. After were done on the dock, my parents are usually waiting with

burgers for all of us. They genuinely enjoy the smiles on our faces when we see something good to eat. When the day is over, everybody is happy;

I have never heard anybody say that they didnt have a good time. This fun and easy going environment is created by my parents, as well as my

brother, sister, me, and all of our friends.

Again, a house is a structure in which people live in for shelter. Even though a family may live in a house, in my mind, it may still be considered

a house if it consists of a group of individuals simply living together. What makes a house a home is the environment. In my house, a pleasant

environment is created by my parents, brother, sister, dogs, and cat. My parents have created that environment by establishing a tradition of

sitting down for dinner every night, and my brother, sister, and I create the environment by inviting all of our friends over to enjoy the sun and

spend time with each other. That is what makes my house a home.
