BLUF: The Personnel Action Request (PAR) replaces the DA Form 4187 in IPPS-A. Soldiers can submit a PAR from their mobile

device. Once submitted, it is automatically entered into the workflow approval process and routed by the HR Professional to the

approval chain. During the approval process PARs are visible and auditable.

➢ HR Professionals have the ability to

initiate a PAR on behalf of a Soldier

➢ Automated workflow through the S1

Pool and chain of command

➢ Request will be work-flowed in IPPS-A,

allowing transparency and tracking

➢ Upon approval, Soldier record updated

in IPPS-A

➢ Automatic notification to Soldier upon

approval

BLUF: The Personnel Action Request (PAR) replaces the DA Form 4187 in IPPS-A. Members can submit a PAR from their mobile

device. Once submitted, it is automatically entered into the workflow approval process and routed by an HR Professional to the

approval authority. IPPS-A automated workflow allows transparency, efficiency and auditability.

• HR Professionals have

the ability to initiate a

PAR on behalf of a

Soldier

• Members can also

submit a PAR for

themselves via self-

service or mobile device

• Once submitted, all PAR

requests route to the

Member’s S1 Pool or

Upper Echelon (when

applicable)

• HR Pros within S1

Pool/Upper Echelon can

assign pre-defined

approval routing

templates based on the

PAR type

• HR Pros can also assign

Ad Hoc routing for

unique actions or if

additional reviewers are

required.

• Commanders have

elevated permissions

connected to Workflow

for PARs and may

delegate their approval

authority to others by

creating a Proxy

• Routing templates are

established by unit SOP

IAW the specified

approval authority and

are saved for repeated

use

• Upon approval,

Member’s record will

update in IPPS-A

• Orders are generated

and transmitted to

iPERMS

• Data is sent to outbound

interfaces. Example:

Special Pay to DJMS

• The Member receives a

notification within the

system when the action

is approved

Note: R3 is leveraging the Admin Record Correction PAR for several actions. The Admin Record Correction PAR is the only PAR that is non-transactional

meaning the HR Pro will need to manually update a Member’s record in IPPS-A once it is approved.
