Soldier for Life Initiatives - Army
• Soldier Life Cycle – Reinforces lifelong learning, transition readiness, and career readiness throughout active service.
• Soldier for Life -Transition Assistance Program – The VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011 resulted in a standardized transition assistance program curriculum, conducted in partnership with the Department of Labor and the Veterans Administration, mandatory for all separating Service members. Veteran unemployment is at a 7-year low, and is comparable to the civilian sector.
• Soldier for Life Centers – Established across all Army installations to provide in-service, pre-transition, and post-transition resources.
• Career Skills Programs (CSPs) – CSPs provide job training for transitioning Soldiers through internships with private industry. 48 CSPs are approved across Army.
• Soldier for Life Buttons and Badges – Allows Veterans and Retirees to display their continued service as “Soldiers for Life” after leaving active duty

Soldier for Life Initiatives - FLW
• Soldier for Life – Transition Assistance Program – The FLW SFL-TAP office provides world-class education, training, counseling, and employment assistance that enables over 1,200 FLW Service members to “Reintegrate Strong”, career ready, every year. 1,252 FLW Soldiers are currently enrolled in SFL-TAP.
• Arrive Strong – Our innovative 7-day program integrates welcome, reception, orientation, resiliency, soldier life cycle, and processing requirements for Soldiers and Families arriving to FLW. “Arrive Strong” has been noted as an IMCOM “best practice” and is being considered for Army-wide implementation.
• Career Skills Programs (CSPs) – 21 CSPs are under development at FLW. FLW is also surveying SFL-TAP enrollees to assess their CSP needs. We are working with IMCOM to update Army PTDY policy to allow for off-site CSPs and an enterprise approach.
• National Transition Summit – The National Transition Summit will return to Fort Leonard Wood 10-11 May 2015 in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Hiring Our Heroes program. Last year’s summit resulted in over 200 job offers for transitioning Service members and Spouses.
