FPG (Frontier Parent Group) is working to ensure that a proposed drilling site near Frontier Elementary School does not negatively impact the health, safety or well-being of our children, the school, and the community. SOUTH GREELEY DIRECTIONAL PROJECT: 19 WELLS, 20 TANKS Mineral Resources, Inc. has filed a large oil and gas drilling operation proposal, called South Greeley Directional, located 1,512 feet away from the Frontier Academy Elementary School building and a little over 1,000 feet from the playground. This site is very concerning in such close proximity to the school, businesses and homes who will be faced with increased health, safety, traffic, and noise issues. This location is NOT suitable for an industrial operation. HELP PROTECT OUR SCHOOLS, NEIGHBORHOODS AND COMMUNITY; DEMAND FOR BALANCED RESPONSIBLE DEVELOPMENT! Due date for comments: 7/28/14 1. HEALTH a. Overall long-term and short-term health risks and concerns. Lack of studies and data gaps. Unknown cumulative effects. b. Air pollution and air quality. c. Increase in diesel fumes and dust. d. Silica concerns from sand. e. Emissions from the wells and tanks. Toxic emissions and VOC’s. f. Intensity of exposure level to toxins due to the high concentration of tanks. g. Cancer causing compounds used and produced. 2. SAFETY a. Flammable, hazardous and chemical material in close proximity to homes, schools and businesses. Transportation through city streets. b. Explosions, blowout, fire and spill concerns. c. Evacuation procedures for the school, businesses and residents. Emergency preparedness. 3. TRAFFIC a. Flow of traffic in the area. Use of 29 th St for trucks accessing location, school activity & businesses. b. Increase in truck, industrial traffic and flammable/hazardous transport. c. Emergency response access and traffic plan. 4. NOISE a. Drilling noise effects in an area where an elementary school is operating and children are learning, who deserve a healthy non-distracting environment. b. Drilling noise effects on homes and businesses. 5. COMMUNITY a. This is not a proper location for an industrial business. b. There should be balanced and responsible development in our City. c. This high intensity drilling operation will affect local businesses, schools and housing. Along with future developments. d. Water: Use of City municipal water & other sources that is permanently removed from the hydrological cycle. Wastewater injection and injection well concerns.
