AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE: The students graduated successfully on this subject to acquiring the need theoretical and professional knowledge about using the CAD systems for pattern making. DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: The program comprises some actual problems referring computer graphic and its application by pattern development of base constructions men’s, woman’s and children’s apparel. The purpose and syntax of frequently used functions in graphical apparel systems for garment design is explained. Students got experienced to use algorithms for building of constructive mesh, internal and perimeter lines, darts creation, seams and production patterns, accessory details with CAD systems, specially designed for the apparel industry. PREREQUISITES: Basic knowledges in the field of textile materials, engineer design of yarns and fabrics, pattern making, textile and apparel manufacturing. TEACHING METHODS: Lectures read with helping of multimedia presentations, fashion journals and video films; laboratory work CAD pattern making of base apparel constructions. COURSE STATUS IN THE CURRICULUM: Compulsory subject for full-time students in

Design and Technologies for Garment and Textiles of Faculty of Power Engineering and Power

Machines of Technical University-Sofia for educative-qualification degree “Bachelor”.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE: The students graduated successfully on this

subject to acquiring the need theoretical and professional knowledge about using the CAD systems

for pattern making.

DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: The program comprises some actual problems referring

computer graphic and its application by pattern development of base constructions men’s, woman’s

and children’s apparel. The purpose and syntax of frequently used functions in graphical apparel

systems for garment design is explained. Students got experienced to use algorithms for building of

constructive mesh, internal and perimeter lines, darts creation, seams and production patterns,

accessory details with CAD systems, specially designed for the apparel industry.

PREREQUISITES: Basic knowledges in the field of textile materials, engineer design of yarns

and fabrics, pattern making, textile and apparel manufacturing.

TEACHING METHODS: Lectures read with helping of multimedia presentations, fashion

journals and video films; laboratory work – CAD pattern making of base apparel constructions.

METHOD OF ASSESSMENT: Written examination – elaboration of two short theoretical

subjects and solving of one graphical task.

COURSE STATUS IN THE CURRICULUM: Compulsory for the students specialty Design and

Technologies for Garment and Textiles BEng programme of Faculty of Power Engineering and

Power Machines.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE: At the end of the course the students are expected

to be able to apply the design methods of loop structures; to have basic knowledge on stitch models

and specialized software products for design of different types of knits and use them to create

programs for control the knitting automats.

DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: The main topics concern: Basic knowledge on design of

knitwear; Models of loop. Basic parameters. Equiaxial state, area and deformation of knitting

structures by uniaxial and biaxial loading. Design of single jersey, derivatives and fancy knits;

Design of double jersey, derivatives and fancy knits; Design of purl and interlock knits; Design of

jacquard structures; Design of warp structures; Software for creating knitted structure; Software for

predicting the effect of the yarn loop and setting pixels; Virtual modeling the silhouette. Virtual

knitting; Software to create a program for knitting automats; Design of socks with and without heel

and toes; Software for designing fabrics, lace, lace and programs for the warp machines.

PREREQUISITES: Textile materials; Knitting technologies and machines.

TEACHING METHODS: Lectures, using slides, case studies, laboratory and course work, work in

teams, protocols and course work description preparation and defence.

METHOD OF ASSESSMENT: Computer aided test on two levels: one preliminary test and one basic test.

COURSE STATUS IN THE CURRICULUM: Compulsory for the students specialty "Design and

Technologies for Clothing and Textiles and Apparel", Faculty of Power Engineering and Power

Machines at the Technical University – Sofia, degree "Bachelor".

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE: Obtained knowledge and skills in Coloring and

finishing will expand their horizons in terms of methods and means for preconditioning, dyeing and

printing of textiles.

DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: The program sets out issues related with the preparation of

various types of cellulose fibers, man-made protein, and the types of dyes and printing pastes needed

for their processing. Students have the opportunity for early access to Power point presentations.

During the exercises the group performs the task set by the lecturer. Measurement results, their

processing and analysis have to be presented in a protocol for each laboratory work. In the end of

each class the protocol shall be validated by the assistant.

PREREQUISITES: The course is based on knowledge in the field of Textile Materials and Testing, subject studied in Bachelor course.

TEACHING METHODS: Lectures - using PowerPoint presentations and videos; laboratory -

working with tools and equipment. At the end of the semester students prepare presentations on a

specific topic.

METHOD OF ASSESSMENT: Exam – the student has to expound two theoretical questions.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE: At the end of the course students acquire

knowledge and skills for designing of production lines for apparel production.

DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: The content of the program covers the main issues related to

the design of assembly lines for production of clothing items: development of an assignment for

investment project; development of technical and technological documentation for sewing products;

setting the rhythm of an assembly line; grouping and allocation of the technological operations to

the work stations and synchronizing the production line; calculation of the space required for

production section and drawing a floor plan.

PREREQUISITES: Basic knowledge in garment technology, knowledge in software for floor plan

drawing.

TEACHING METHODS: Lectures: using multimedia projector, laboratory work: solving of

production problems and cases.

METHOD OF ASSESSMENT: Written examination – one theoretical and two practical problems,

presentation and defence of the course project.

COURSE STATUS IN THE CURRICULUM: Compulsory subject for the bachelor-

students in the specialty “Design and Technology of Clothing and Textiles” at the

Technical University of Sofia for Bachelor education qualification degree.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE: The knowledge obtained will allow

the students to analyze independently the structures of yarns and woven fabrics, to design

the parameters of similar woven fabrics with analytical methods, to develop the

technology for manufacturing of yarns and fabrics with simple, derivative and mixed

patterns.

DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: The program content includes basics of the

analysis and the design of yarns and woven fabrics. Computer algorithms for yarns’

design are studied. Different fabrics structures on the basis of simple, derivatives and

complex structures as well as computer programs for design are studied as well. The labs

involve particular problems for each student, related with the calculation of the

parameters of blends and yarn properties as well as with design of woven fabrics

structures, which are woven on the loom.

PREREQUISITES: Basic knowledge in the field of spinning and weaving machines and

technologies, texile materials and testing.

TEACHING METHODS: Lectures with the use of Power Point presentations and

videos, as well as educational software programs. Laboratory works include solving of

problems with the use of the software available, the machines, reference books and

documentation. The project is developed individually by each student with the help of the

leading lecturers.

METHOD OF ASSESSMENT: Continuous assessment on the basis of two test-papers

with individual problems during the semester.

COURSE STATUS IN THE CURRICULUM: Compulsory subject for the bachelor-

students in the specialty “Design and Technology of Clothing and Textiles” at the

Technical University of Sofia for Bachelor education qualification degree.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE: The students to acquire the necessary

minimum of theoretical, professional and creative knowledge in the application of modern

methods of artistic design of fabrics and knitwear. The coursework for the course will

reinforce these skills.

DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: The training is strictly practical to acquire

creative skills in construction of the composition, shaping, color graphics and structural

design of the solutions in the design of fabrics and knitwear. Students are introduced to

the theoretical and practical stages of production of woven or knitted fabrics or knitwear -

from the artistic concept to its practical technological realization on weaving or knitting

machines

PREREQUISITES: Basic knowledge in the field of weaving and knitting machines and

technologies, texile materials, design of yarns, fabrics and knitwear.

МЕТОД ЗА ПРЕПОДАВАНЕ: Lectures with the use of Power Point presentations and

videos, laboratory works with CAD software, reference books, manuals. Individual course

project is with a separate mark.

TEACHING METHODS: Lectures with the use of Power Point presentations and

videos, as well as educational software programs. Laboratory works include solving of

problems with the use of the software available, reference books and documentation. The

project is developed individually, it has two parts and is assessed separately.

METHOD OF ASSESSMENT: Continuous assessment on the basis of a test-paper and

individual problems during the semester.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE: At the end of the course students acquire

knowledge in methods of statistical control and acceptable sampling, characteristics, methods and

devices for quality control of textile products..

DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: The program content covers the main issues related to the

statistical methods for quality control - statistical hypothesis testing according to parametric and

nonparametric criteria, development of control charts on both quantitative and qualitative

indicators, statistical acceptable sampling and quality control of the textile products – yarns, fabrics

and apparel.

PREREQUISITES: Basic knowledge in the field of Probability Theory and Statistics, Textile

Materials and Testing. Skills in working with statistical data processing programs are desired.

TEACHING METHODS: Lectures: using multimedia projector, laboratory work: elaboration of

control charts, work with plans for acceptable sampling, testing of textiles using devices and

apparatuses, data processing with PCs.

METHOD OF ASSESSMENT: Summary mark from protocols’ defence and exam. During the

exam students can use the Manual for laboratory work on Textile Testing and Analysis.

COURSE STATUS IN THE CURRICULUM: Elective for ВEng students specialty Design and

Technologies for Garment and Textiles of the Faculty of Power Engineering and Power Machines at

the Technical University-Sofia.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE At the end of the course students acquire

knowledge in industrial engineering and the up-to-date systems for production and operations

management in textile and sewing companies.

DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: The program includes basic questions related to

organization of the manufacturing regarding time and place, methods and techniques used for

optimization, stages and approaches to realization of production and operations management, up-to-

date methods for concordance of production sections, application of CAD/CAM systems in textile

and sewing companies.

PREREQUISITES: Basic knowledge in the field of Economics and in the technological subjects.

TEACHING METHODS: Lectures: using multimedia projector, laboratory work: solving of

problems related to production management.

METHOD OF ASSESSMENT: Continuous assessment based on 2 tests during the semester.
