COCOON

The Cocoon Furniture and Cocoon Media-Lounge, designed by Tanja Fähndrich and Anthony Salaa, is a series of furniture for creating zones and seating areas.

Cocoon Furniture can be used to create indiviual zones and also be used in combination with both new and existing shelving systems.

Cocoon Media-Lounge is ideal for creating a specialised zone within a given space. Whether a study zone for concentration or focus; or a gaming zone for play and fun, the innovative design of the Cocoon Media-Lounge allows you to reduce the scale of a large area and create a more intimate setting with its own unique purpose.

We offer seven standard versions of the Cocoon Media-Lounge. For a comparison of their functions and design see the overview on pages 14-15. Be inspired by the models shown, besides the seven standard models we are also able to create a unique lounge, that tailor to your individual needs for a zone in your library, upon request.

The modules and furniture in the Cocoon range are based on the same materials used for the Ratio shelving system, and some of the modules can be equipped with shelves, browsers and many of the functions available from the Ratio Shelving System.

ASSEMBLYTwo people are required for assembling.

WOODEN COMPONENTSare made of 25 mm E1 quality particle board type P2, with decorative melamine resin direct lamination in single sheet construction on both sides. With ABS edges.

FOR COCOON FURNITUREFABRICS The material used for lining the furniture is 3 mm wool felt (100% wool) and is water resistant, antimicrobial and flame retardant according to regulation DINEN 13501-1, meeting the requirements of fire class B-s1.

FOR COCOON MEDIA-LOUNGECONSTRUCTIONThe Cocoon Media Lounge is built up around a modular concept consisting of 2 basic sides, a ceiling and a floor. Some options can be added to some of the modules, see under each module for an overview of options available.

FABRICSThe material used for the inside is 2 mm wool felt (100% wool) and is water resistant, antimicrobial and flame retar-dant according to regulation DINEN 13501-1, meeting the requirements of fire class B-s1. The material used for the seating is 2 mm wool felt (80% wool and 20% polyamide) and is flame retardant according to regulation BS 5852-1.

FOAM FOR SEATINGThe foam used in the seating is flame retardant according to DIN 4102 B1 and BS 5852 P 2.

WIRINGNon-visible wiring inside the modules is standard and already installed in the Computer-, Gaming- and Working Media-Lounges.

If you want the wiring connection to be hidden, it is necessary with an integrated plug in the floor (to be supplied by the customer). It is also possible to have the wiring come down from the ceiling and connect into the ceiling of the Media Lounge (all exterior wiring to be supplied by the customer). Cable extensions and multiple sockets must be ordered separately.

LIGHTINGInterior: LED-spots (Häfele Type LED LOOX 4007) with light shower effect are used for interior lighting (standard in Working Lounge and can be installed in other Media-Lounge upon request).

Exterior: All modules with acrylic presentation panel are equipped with indirect LED lighting on the exterior of the Media-Lounge. It is possible to add indirect lighting to the ceiling, providing light up into the room (see drawing).

MATERIALS AND COLOURSSTANDARD COLOURS AND FINISHES FOR MELAMINE / VENEER SURFACES Cocoon wooden surfaces are delivered as standard in Traffic white (RAL 9016), other colours are available upon request with surcharge of minimum 25%. Ratio shelves used in some modules are either wooden veneer or melamine coated. Differences in colour underline the characteristics of veneer and cannot be avoided.

STANDARD STEEL COLOURSThe coloration of the steel parts is made by a highly abrasion-proof and environmental-friendly baking powder coating. Colour deviations compared to original RAL register may occur. Antibacterial equipping of surfaces upon request.

The steel parts can be produced in the standard steel colours at no extra charge. The steel parts can also be powder coated in other RAL colours for a starter fee of net EUR 200.

FUNCTIONAL AND COLOURFUL FURNITURE FOR YOUR LIBRARY

The Cocoon furniture series consists of modular components in varying sizes and functions. The modules can be combined in various ways, so the function of the furniture depends on the combination and the position of the modules FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION.

The modules have been designed to be used either vertically or horizontally. Vertically, the Cocoon functions as seating and is available in two different heights and two seating heights. It can either be integrated into the shelving system or be a freestanding piece of furniture.

Positioned horizontally, the module functions as an individual piece of furniture, that can be used for both display and storage as well as small play area for children.

Place two horizontal Cocoons next to each other to create a larger display area or cave/play area.

COCOON GAMING-LOUNGE

The Cocoon Gaming-Lounge is ideally placed in the teens or children’s section of the library. On the inside you will find a comfortable seating area with a screen mount installed on the opposite wall. Gaming devices can be securely locked away in the gaming box installed underneath the screen. To ensure great sound within the Gaming-Lounge, you can install a Sonus Sound Shower with speakers. Use the many steel displays and shelves on the outside to show the latest computer games.

COCOON WORKING-LOUNGE EXCLUSIVE

This lounge has some added functionalities and changes in design compared to the Cocoon Working-Lounge Premium.

The lounge is delivered with a table with screen support and integrated spots in the ceiling on the interior and 20 steel displays and indirect LED lighting on the exterior of the lounge. To create the ”cave” like atmosphere, an acrylic side wall has been added to the lounge.

Due to the construction of the modules, there are many ways of integrating e-media into the Working-Lounge. Add a screen (not included), a Sonus Sound Shower or speakers to create the perfect working environment.
