INDUSTRIAL Today, Cobra hoods are speci- fied by thousands of end-user companies in many industries around the world. With hun- dreds of thousands of hoods in service worldwide, Cobra hoods are the premier brand of flame resistant hoods in the market place. Industrial users include electrical maintenance; electric and gas utilities; oil, gas and petro chemical refineries; fer- rous and non ferrous steel mills and foundries; welders; struc- tural and wildland firefighters; and military/tactical personnel. STRUCTURAL FIREFIGHTING Over thirty years ago PGI pioneered the first firefighting hoods. Back then only a few fire departments used hoods as part of their protective ensemble. Today fire fighting hoods are an important part of the fire fighters PPE ensemble. PGI continues to be the industry leader bringing more protective and comfortable designs and fabrics to the market. ARC FLASH PROTECTION The temperature of an electric arc flash can reach 35,000°F. Exposure to these extreme temperatures both burns the skin directly and causes ignition of clothing, which adds to the burn injury. Each year more than 2,000 people are admitted to burn centers with severe arc- flash burns. The latest edition of the NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety Requirements for Employee Workplaces) states, “employees shall wear FR clothing wherever there is a possible exposure to an electric arc flash.” This requires employees working on or near energized parts and equipment to wear flame resistant clothing that meets the requirements of ASTM F 1506 and is appropriate to the potential energy of the hazard. PGI manufactures a complete line of flame resistant hoods that meet or exceed NFPA 70E and the performance specifications of ASTM F 1506. Every PGI arc flash hood has a permanently sewn in label with an Arc Thermal Protective Value (ATPV) Arc Rating and Hazard Risk Category (HRC) Rating permanently printed on the label allowing you to select the level of arc flash protection you need for your specific use. SWAT/MILITARY Swat and military personnel face a diverse array of hazards. PGI’s Swat hood series incor- porates fabrics which provide superior protection from flame and chemicals. Hoods have excellent moisture management – wicking moisture away from the skin keeping you drier and more comfortable reducing heat stress and improving endurance and stamina so you can perform at your best. 100% Nomex® (meta-aramid)Nomex has excellent thermal stability and will not melt or drip. Fabric has outstanding strength, abrasion resistance and chemical resistance.

PBi®/LeNziNg Fr® with ComFort PLus™ LiNiNgAdd the Comfort Plus Liner to the PBI/Lenzing FR blend, and the Thermal Protection Performance (TPP) rating dramatically improves.

PBi®/LeNziNg Fr®

PBI is an extraordinary fiber that doesn’t burn in air. Blended with Lenzing FR®, this fabric is the lightest, most comfortable flame resistant hood fabric on the market. Even though fabric is incredibly lightweight, at 5.7 oz./sq. yd, it has an exceptionally high TPP rating.

Para-Tek FRPara-teK Fr™ tri-BLeNdLightweight yet excellent Thermal Protection Performance. Vertical char length is the lowest we’ve ever seen averaging less than a half inch in both directions after five washings. Highest arc rating for a lightweight hood.

Ara-Tek FRara-teK Fr™ tri-BLeNdSimilar comfort and flame and thermal resistance to the popular Nomex/Lenzing FR blend at a fraction of the cost. Where Ara-Tek FR really shines is it’s durability and arc resistance.

ComFort PLus™ – Nomex® (meta-aramid)/LeNziNg Fr®

Developed by PGI in the early 1980’s, this mid-weight blend has become the most popular hood fabric in the market due to its ability to wick moisture away from the skin more effectively than other flame resistant fabrics keeping the wearer drier and more comfortable.

COBRA™ SURE FIT™ hoods incorporate a 3” wide center panel rather than the traditional center seam, which allows PGI to contour the hood to the shape of the head for improved fit and comfort. Additionally, COBRA™ Sure Fit™ hoods have a little extra fabric (ease) built into the design which reduces the likelihood of the face opening pulling away from the SCBA mask when head is rotated.

CarBoN shieLd™Considered the ultimate high-tech fabric for thermal protection and comfort. The fabric simply won’t burn in air. Additionally fabric has excellent moisture regain and wicks moisture away from the skin to the outer shell enabling it to evaporate at a rapid rate.

Recommended for NON-STRUCTURAL FIRE FIGHTING related jobs when you need protection from flame, radiant heat, flash fire, electric arc, welding sparks and splatter, molten metal splash and cold weather.
