NOTWITHSTANDING THE PRESENCE OF THE CITY INSPECTOR, EITHER FULL OR PART-TIME, THE CONTRACTOR IS NOT RELIEVED OF
THE RESPONSIBILITY OF PERFORMING THE WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH THESE DOCUMENTS.
LICENSING: PRIME CONTRACTOR SHALL POSSESS A VALID CALIFORNIA 'A' OR 'C-27' LICENSE AT THE TIME THIS CONTRACT IS
AWARDED. ATTENTION IS DIRECTED TO THE PROVISIONS OF CALIFORNIA BUSINESS & PROFESSIONS CODE - DIVISION 3,
CHAPTER 9, CONCERNING CONTRACTOR LICENSING.
VERIFICATION OF EXISTING CONDITIONS: ALL EXISTING CONDITIONS, ELEVATIONS, DIMENSIONS & CONSTRUCTION IN THE FIELD
PRIOR TO BID. IF ANY DISCREPANCIES ARE NOTED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE ENGINEER IMMEDIATELY FOR DIRECTION.
NOTICE TO PROCEED: CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT COMMENCE WORK UNTIL AFTER A PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING HAS BEEN HELD
WITH THE CITY & AFTER A NOTICE TO PROCEED HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THE CITY.
SAFETY: CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL SIGNS, BARRICADES OR OTHER DEVICES NECESSARY TO PROVIDE FOR PUBLIC &
WORKER SAFETY. COMPLY WITH THE RULES & REGULATIONS OF THE STATE CONSTRUCTION SAFETY ORDERS & CAL OSHA.
CONTRACTOR SHALL POST ON JOB SITE THE EMERGENCY TELEPHONE NUMBERS FOR PUBLIC WORKS, AMBULANCE, POLICE & FIRE
DEPARTMENTS.
EXISTING UTILITIES, UNDERGROUND FACILITIES & SITE IMPROVEMENTS: LOCATIONS & ELEVATIONS OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES
(UNDERGROUND & OVERHEAD) & SITE IMPROVEMENTS, IF SHOWN ON THE PLANS, ARE APPROXIMATE ONLY. CONTRACTOR SHALL
FIELD VERIFY THE EXACT DEPTH OF BURIAL & HORIZONTAL LOCATION OF UTILITY LINES AS NECESSARY.
PRIOR TO PERFORMING UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE THE NECESSARY PROBES TO IDENTIFY
AREAS OF POSSIBLE CONFLICT WITH PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION AS NEEDED. CONTRACTOR SHALL EXCAVATE TO DETERMINE
TYPES, EXTENT, SIZE & DEPTHS OF UNDERGROUND UTILITIES. COORDINATE WORK TO AVOID CONFLICTS BETWEEN PROPOSED
IMPROVEMENTS & EXISTING UNDERGROUND FACILITIES, SEWER LATERALS, STORM DRAINS & WATER MAINS.
PROTECT EXISTING UTILITIES & SITE IMPROVEMENTS FROM DAMAGE. CONTRACTOR TO TAKE SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS WHEN
WORKING NEAR HIGH RISK UTILITIES. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL NECESSARY UTILITY RELOCATIONS & ADJUSTMENTS
WITH THE APPROPRIATE UTILITY COMPANIES. ADJUST UTILITY BOXES TO GRADE AS NOTED.
UTILITY REPAIR: CONTRACTOR SHALL REPAIR ANY DAMAGE OR INTERRUPTION OF UTILITIES, WATER LINES OR IRRIGATION
SYSTEMS WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE TIME OF DAMAGE.
TRAFFIC CONTROL: CONFORM TO SPECIFICATIONS.
COORDINATION: GENERAL CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING ALL OF THE WORK PERFORMED BY HIS
SUBCONTRACTORS WITHOUT EXCEPTION.
DUST CONTROL & POLLUTION PREVENTION: CONFORM TO SPECIFICATIONS. ANY OPERATIONS THAT CREATE DUST MUST BE
STOPPED IMMEDIATELY & REMEDIAL ACTIONS TAKEN. SUBSEQUENTLY, CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE MUD TRACKS FROM STREETS
OR ADJACENT PROPERTIES & SWEEP STREETS, AS DIRECTED BY THE CITY ENGINEER.
LAYOUT APPROVAL: EXACT FIELD LOCATION FOR NEW IMPROVEMENTS SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER BEFORE
CONSTRUCTION.
MATCHING EXISTING CONDITIONS: CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MATCHING EXISTING WALKS, ADJACENT PAVING,
SURROUNDING LANDSCAPE & OTHER IMPROVEMENTS WITH A SMOOTH TRANSITION IN PAVING & GRADING, ETC., & TO AVOID ANY
ABRUPT OR APPARENT CHANGES IN GRADES OR CROSS SLOPES, LOW SPOTS OR HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS. WHERE PAVEMENT IS
TO BE EXTENDED, THE EXISTING EDGE OF PAVEMENT TO BE REMOVED MUST BE NEATLY SAWCUT OR REMOVED TO AN EXPANSION
JOINT.
FIELD CHANGES: CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY CITY'S REPRESENTATIVE IMMEDIATELY UPON DISCOVERY OF ANY POTENTIAL FIELD
CHANGES. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY FIELD CHANGES MADE WITHOUT WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION FROM THE
CITY.
HAULING: WHEN HAULING ANY EARTH, SAND, GRAVEL, STONE, DEBRIS, PAPER, OR ANY OTHER SUBSTANCE OVER ANY PUBLIC
STREET OR PUBLIC PLACE, NO PERSON SHALL ALLOW MATERIAL TO BLOW OR SPILL OVER & UPON SAID PUBLIC, ADJACENT OR
PRIVATE PROPERTY.
SITE RESTORATION: CONTRACTOR SHALL REPLACE OR RESTORE TO PRE-CONSTRUCTION CONDITION ALL PAVING, UTILITIES,
SERVICES, IRRIGATION, LANDSCAPE MATERIALS, PAVEMENT DELINEATION & OTHER IMPROVEMENTS, THAT ARE NOT TO BE
REMOVED BUT ARE DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION AT NO ADDITIONAL EXPENSE TO THE CITY.
EXISTING PLANT MATERIAL TO REMAIN: CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING ALL LANDSCAPE DAMAGED DURING
CONSTRUCTION.
A. EXCAVATION UNDER TREE DRIPLINES: TAKE PRECAUTION WHEN EXCAVATING UNDER TREE DRIPLINES. HAND EXCAVATION
ONLY IS ALLOWED WITHIN THE DRIPLINE.
B. ROOT CUTTING: THIS WORK SHALL BE DONE UNDER DIRECTION OF CITY APPROVED CERTIFIED ARBORIST HIRED BY THE
CONTRACTOR. ROOTS LARGER THAN 2" ENCOUNTERED WITHIN THE TOP 3' OF EXCAVATION SHALL BE HAND DUG &
PROTECTED.
CLEAN-UP: CLEAN CITY STREETS AS OFTEN AS REQUIRED TO REMOVE ANY ACCUMULATION OF MUD & DEBRIS RESULTING FROM
THE CONSTRUCTION. REMOVE OIL TRACKS FROM STRIPING, SIDEWALK & PAVEMENT DELINEATORS ON ADJOINING STREETS WITHIN
48 HOURS.
PHOTOGRAPHY: CITY WILL RESERVE THE RIGHT TO TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS & VIDEOS DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION.
