Coaching Conversations for Collaborative Working

Overview: This course is aimed at developing the skills and practice of new or existing managers offering the opportunity to develop skills in management and leadership and apply those skills and develop leadership practice in the workplace. There are five highly interactive and engaging workshop days, delivered using a blended approach, focusing on the development of your personal management capabilities and competencies. Delegates will supported through access to a range of resources including a tutor, CDN LearnOnline, and the CMI suite of resources through CDN Management Direct. Typical Units at Level 5 include: Unit 5013v1: Leadership practice: This unit is about the links between management and leadership, key leadership principles and leadership theory. Unit 5003v1: Managing teams and individual performance: This unit is about the management of individual team performance and how to improve performance. Unit 5010v1: Planning for development: This unit is about planning human resource requirements to enable work objectives to be met and providing objective development opportunities for individuals. Duration: This course is delivered at Argyll Court - 5 day’s attendance over 6 months plus self-directed study. This course may be offered at alternative locations by agreement. Outcomes: On successful completion of the Unit, the coach will be able to:

• Explain the underlying concepts of coaching practice, drawing from current research evidence and personal experience.

• Identify actions needed to enable adoption of coaching approaches to supporting individuals and teams

• Demonstrate a practical framework for coaching conversations. • Use coaching as a tool to drive change through the organisation

Duration: This course is delivered at Argyll Court – 2 half-day attendance over six weeks plus personal practice sessions. This course may be offered at alternative locations by agreement. This Unit is delivered and assessed within a live work context where change management issues exist and where the support via a coaching framework is encouraged. Evidence of competence as a coach in this Unit will be obtained from working in small groups with peers on the programme. Progression: This course can be seen as a stand- alone course or delegates can progress to CMI Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring QCCF level 5 qualification (18 credit points, typically 3 units).
