Co-Curricular Activity/Event Assessment Co-curricular activities and events enrich the educational environment, complementing the formal coursework students complete.

These co-curricular activities and events contribute to the educational experience of our students and align with the college’s mission to

provide quality educational opportunities both in and outside of the classroom.

To begin recording your assessment of your co-curricular activity/event, you’ll first need to create the template. The template will need

to be created from scratch the first time, but in future semesters, you will be able to duplicate this first project and edit/update the new

duplicate for your next project.

1. Click +Create New Project

2. Select A completely new project or New Version of an existing project if you are submitting another co-curricular

assessment from a current or previous term.

3. Select Assessment: Measure performance against goals and objectives.

4. Select Template: Co-Curricular Assessment Template.

5. Enter Project Title: Name of Activity/Event.

6. Select Reporting Period (Academic Year).

7. Click Next.

9. In the box that opens below the main heading, include a few sentences explaining your mission with this activity/event.

How will it provide educational opportunities that further support the learning that already takes place in the classroom?

10. Click +Add Goal

11. Click Nothing Entered and type or copy and paste the first goal (Recruitment). Repeat Steps 8 and 9 for all five (5) goals:

a) Recruitment

b) Retention

c) Community Service

d) Diversity

e) Institutional Mission

12. Click Nothing Entered to add a description of the Goal to provide context or clarification for an internal or external reviewer

13. Click +Add Outcomes: Project Level under each Goal.

14. Click Nothing Entered and type or copy and paste each of these outcomes listed below its corresponding goal. Repeat Steps

13 and 14 until all Outcomes are added to your template:

1. Recruitment 1.1 How does your activity/event help with recruitment of new students to the college? 1.2 How does your activity/event help with recruitment of new students to the activity/event/group?

2. Retention 2.1 How does your activity/event help with retention of students at the college? 2.2 How does your activity/event help with retention of students to the group/activity/event?

3. Community Service 3.1 How does your activity/event promote/participate in community service activities?

4. Diversity 4.1 How does your activity/event create, promote, or provide a diverse environment for students?

5. Institutional Mission 5.1 How does the activity/event help with meeting our institutional mission?

15. Add descriptions and explanations to every objective to provide detailed context, clarification, and evidence for an

internal or external reviewer.

16. After responding to each of the Outcomes/Questions in the Description boxes below each, pick one of the five

Co-Curricular Assessment Outcomes (Recruitment, Retention, Community Service, Diversity, or Institutional Mission) and

complete a more thorough assessment of the objective(s) in its section. You may complete multiple sections if you like, but only

one is required per event/activity. It is recommended you cycle through each of these, focusing on Community Service one

semester, Retention the next, and so on).

17. In your chosen section, click +Add Supported Initiative.

18. In the Add Supported Initiatives pop-up window, click Standards.

19. Click Select Collection and type in key words or scroll.

a) If the activity or event is sponsored by or connected to a program or department, search for the department or program

and then Add any outcomes that apply to this activity (e.g. Culture Club might include Humanities Dept. Outcomes).

b) Search for HLC and Add Outcomes 3.C.6, 3.E.1, and 4.B.2 (these standards are tied to co-curricular assessments)

c) NOTE: Standards collections are listed alphabetically and include local, regional, national, and Higher Learning

Commission (HLC) criteria.

20. Click General Education and Add all that apply.

21. Click Institutional Priorities and Add all that apply.

22. Click Strategic Initiatives and Add all that apply.

23. Click X to exit Add Supported Initiatives to Objectives 1.1.

25. Review your added Supported Initiatives.

a. Continue to add supported initiatives as needed, discussed, or directed.

b. Remove a supported initiative by clicking trashcan icon.

26. Click +Add Action Plan.

27. Select Status of Action Plan (Planned, Complete, or In Progress).

a. Set your due date for email reminders.

b. Include Budget source and dollar amount for activity or event, if applicable.

28. Enter YOUR action plan for the assessment.

a. What will YOU do to assess this objective?

b. Be thorough for a reviewer.

c. Provide context that may be important.

d. Enter a Due Date, which will trigger a reminder for you to complete the Action Plan. If this assessment is planned, the Due

Date should be about when you plan to complete the asssessment.

e. Include Budget Source and Dollar Amount if activity/event utilizes funding.

f. Enter specific Action Item(s), due date, and status, which will trigger a reminder for you to complete the Action Item(s).

iii. Think about the evidence to include that documents and measures both your actions as well as student learning.

30. Title this Measure where it says Nothing Entered. What method are you using to measure the effectiveness of this activity?

a. Specific, thorough for a reviewer.

b. Include copy/paste of an assessment tool if available (i.e. survey given to students at event, a rubric you’ve developed to

measure success of activity, etc.).

i. Example below lost formatting.

33. Click on Not Set and toggle to choose if target was met.

34. Enter information under Target, Finding, and Analysis, summarizing the desired outcome, the actual outcome, and your

analysis of what this information means and how you plan to use it going forward with this or another activity/event.

35. Click + to the right of Project Attachments to drag and drop files or browse for files.

a. Upload evidence that supports the information you’ve input for your event.

b. .pdf file types are strongly recommended, though you may also include images, documents, and other files. Just be aware

some file types may or may not be browser friendly.

c. These evidence files will be embedded in any reports that are created for individuals, programs, departments, college, or

other initiatives.

36. When this project content is complete, at the top right of the page, change the status of the project to Complete.
