The advantaes of CO2insufationdurin surical interventions

CO2has been used as a medical as for many decades. Carbon dioxideis not only a cost-efcient alternative but, as an endoenous as, is well

tolerated and also quickly absorbed.

CO2 as is non-combustible and thus ideal for use in HF surery. The

option of also connectin the insufators to the hospital's existin central

as supply ensures smooth functionin.

CO2insufators from KARL STORZ

The tried and tested CO2insufators ENDOFLATORand THERMOFLATOR

from KARL STORZ offer users optimal convenience combined with maxi-mum patient safety.

Because the actual value and set value displays are positioned clearly side

by side, precise monitorin of insufation is quick and easy both with the

ENDOFLATOR and the THERMOFLATOR. The set values can be set

precisely usin touch buttons and thus optimally adapted to the patient's

specic conditions.

In the event of a loss of as durin the intervention (e.., due to an instru-

ment chane or durin smoke evacuation), the automatic pressure reula-

tion feature prevents the pneumoperitoneum from collapsin by means of

an electronic control.

As a further safety measure, the safety system SECUVENT, which is

interated in both models, uarantees constant intra-abdominal pressure

conditions. Any overpressure is immediately detected, indicated by visual

and acoustic warnins and reduced automatically without the user havin

to intervene.

Via SCB (Storz Communication Bus), the insufators from KARL STORZ

can be interated simply and in a user-friendly manner into the intellientOR of the future, OR1. Interation means that all safety-relevant data can

be displayed in the video imae to make operatin for the sureon a hihly

eronomic and pleasant workin experience. In combination with an SCB-

supported camera system, this function can also be used without an SCB

computer.

Toether with an IMAgE 1HUB HD control unit and an IMAgE 1 H3-Z

camera head, the insufators can even be operated directly via the prepro-

rammed camera head buttons. To this end, the followin functions can be

prorammed on the buttons:

gas on/off

Settin as well as activation/deactivation of ow values

Settin as well as activation/deactivation of pressure values

Volume reset

At KARL STORZ we set reat store by compatibility and, for this rea-

son, customers have the option of retrottin their ENDOFLATOR or

THERMOFLATORwith an SCB module.

The smooth user interface is ideal for wipe-down disinfection and thus,

in terms of hyiene, the insufators meet the very hihest of standards.

Flow properties

For optimal ow results, the complete insufation chain and not just the

device itself must be taken into account. Many factors within the chain

serve to considerably reduce the ow set on the device. Riht at the start

of the insufation chain, the lters sinicantly lower the ow. The LUER

lock represents a further bottleneck which reduces the ow to a maxi-

mum of 18 l/min. Additional instruments and endoscopes in the trocar

all serve to reduce the ow further.

With the correspondin hih-ow accessories, such as the HICAP

trocars from KARL STORZ and the lters from mtp, a maximum ow of

30 l/min can be easily achieved over the entire insufation chain riht up

to the patient.

endoscopic examinations and operations. With its CF classication,this insufator can also be used without any difculty in cardiac surgery.

The hih-ow insufator from KARL STORZ can be used in the elds of

laparoscopy, proctoloy and thoracoscopy.

Throuh combination with the new HICAPtrocar, the maximum ow of

30 l/min can be achieved easily even when an endoscope and instru-

ments are used.

The CO2 as can be preheated accordinly usin the OPTITHERM

heater in order to prevent patient hypothermia durin loner interven-

tions.
