About the Department Established in 2000, the Department of Chemistry at CMRIT caters to the needs of UG B.E & Ph.D programs. It is one of the eight research centers recognized at the institute under VTU & currently has three ongoing research programs funded by DST & KVGST. At present the research scholars are doing research in full time & part-time mode. The faculty members & the technical staffs are involved actively in teaching & research. The Department is committed to expand & improve its research & development facilities & bring in strong science curriculum for the institute students.

About the College CMR-IT is a premiere Engineering Institute in Bengaluru, affiliated to Visweswarya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum. The broad objective of CMRIT is to impart quality education and help students to develop creative thinking, analytical ability and to acquire managerial skills both in practical fields as well as in academics. The institute has currently over 3000 students, 250 faculty members and 150 supporting staffs. Institute offers seven undergraduate & eight postgraduate programs & carries out research activities through its research centre departments, with provisions for Ph.D studies. At CMRIT, we have qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty & state of the art infrastructure that enables students to indulge in desired academic requirements.

About the Workshop Modelling and simulation of multiscale systems constitute great challenge in computational science, and is widely applied in fields ranging from physical sciences and engineering to the life sciences. Most of the physical and real-life systems encompass interactions within and between a wide range of spatio-temporal scales, and are at separate levels of organization. They require the development of sophisticated models and computational techniques to accurately simulate the diversity and complexity of multiscale problems, and to effectively capture the wide range of relevant phenomena within these simulations. The Oxford Economics study (Oxford Economics,“The economic benefits of chemistry research to the UK,” Sep. 2010) demonstrated the importance of including industries such as automotive, aerospace and construction in the analysis of the benefits of chemistry based research. In fact the ability of the industries to utilize the possibilities arising from nano and information technologies depends strongly on a tighter integration of know-how and methods across the sectors, from chemistry to engineering. In this conference we will focus on: Molecular Simulation of Materials Computational Fluid Dynamics Process Simulation This workshop aims to provide a forum for academics and scientists interested in getting an overview of different simulation methodologies and their applications at different time and length scales. Hands-on-sessions are also planned to get detailed understanding of some of the methodologies discussed.
