One day workshop was conducted for the newly admitted Postgraduate (PG) students on 19th

In an era of evidence-based medicine, research is an essential part of medical profession whether clinical or

academic . Hence effective training in research is an essential requirement in all the fields related to medical care. A four days’

workshop on “Research Methodology, AETCOM, Medical Ethics & Medico-Legal-Aspect” was organized under

Curriculum Committee, Medical College Baorda and was conducted successfully from 02.04.2019 (Tuesday) to

05.04.2019(Friday) with full support & motivation of Dean, Dr. A.T. Leuva, expertise of Dr. Shobha Misra, Co-

ordinator of Curriculum Committee & Asso Prof, Community Medicine and assistance of Dr. Chirag Mistry,

Department of Pharmacology.

The core objective of the workshop was to equip the research scholars viz: M.D./ M.S. Postgraduate students,

Ph.D. students who have had a minimum or no previous research experience or those who had started working

towards formulating a research question or those who are already doing empirical research; to possess

adequate knowledge of research methods, practical skills, and ethical principles, which leads to the development of

the right attitude. This workshop was designed to offer the practical guidelines and direct the researchers

through all the stages of research from identifying a research problem to the submission of a protocol to Ethics

Committee and report writing. By the end programme they are expected to develop conceptual clarity and

practical knowledge to undertake quality research protocols and thesis/dissertations. The workshop

commenced, after the registration of participants, introductions and Inaugural function. It was attended by

around 230 PG Residents, 15 Ph.D. students and 30 faculty in two batches of two days duration each. The

workshop continued between 9:30 am to 5:00 pm with tea and lunch breaks.

The workshop was concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by , Dr. Shobha Misra, the Coordinator of the workshop.

This was followed by a brief oral feedback session from few participants & anonymous written feedback from others. All

participants expressed their satisfaction about the workshop and overall coordination of the faculties of the department as well as

the whole program. There was a suggestion to undertake such workshop within three months of joining the PG course. The

Certificates were presented to all the participants and to the faculty by the esteemed Dean Sir, Dr. A. T. Leuva. The program was

concluded with happy note from everyone.
