Forexample, suppose that you want to group the whole numbers from 1 to 9according to whether they are prime or multiples of 2. First,list thenumbers that fall into each category:

    Prime Numbers:2,3,5,1 Multiples of 2;2,4,6,8Next, draw and label two overlapping circles, one that represents the primenumbers and one that represents the multiples of 2. Put each number from1 to 9 in the appropriate region. The numbers that don't fall into eithercategory belong outside of the circles.
