It seems like I just got back from the National yesterday. We all had a great time there. I saw a lot of great dogs and people. We got some new members for the club. I would like to welcome all of the new people to Pacific Rim. Thanks for supporting us! It is now OFFICIAL. Pacific Rim Bloodhound Club is now the ABC recognized breed club in this area. Gee, what does that mean? I guess it means that we are responsible for dog events in this area including the 1999 ABC National Specialty. At our next meeting, October 13, 1996 we will be talking about this exciting event as well as continuing our planning and work for the 1996 Regional in Yakima in April. There is still a lot of work to be done! We also have to get started on the 1999 National- there is much to be done, money to be raised and plans to be made. It alt has to start NOW! Dave Lockridge and Paula Rutherford have been hard at work on our logo. It should be just about done and they have done a nice job! Lynn Harty has been busy looking at trophy possibilities for the Regional. Betty Henslee has chosen the Olive Garden restaurant in Yakima for the regional specialty banquet and we are awaiting the finalized judging panel for the shows from the AKC. I am busy planning the picnic menu (chef salad pottuck), Paula and Cheri Brietinger are working on the auction and raffle and need your donations! Jan and Mary are working on publicity and Bulletin information and Suzi Paine is busy tying up loose ends. What a great bunch of workers we have! Come to the October meeting! SEE YOU THERE! Here it is time for out second news (nose) letter. Boy, how time flies. Itseems like I just got back from the National yesterday. We all had a greattime there. I saw a lot of great dogs and people. We got some new membersfor the club. I would like to welcome all of the new people to Pacific Rim.Thanks for supporting us!

It is now OFFICIAL. Pacific Rim Bloodhound Club is now the ABCrecognized breed club in this area. Gee, what does that mean? I guess itmeans that we are responsible for dog events in this area including the 1999ABC National Specialty. At our next meeting, October 13, 1996 we will betalking about this exciting event as well as continuing our planning and workfor the 1996 Regional in Yakima in April. There is still a lot of work to bedone! We also have to get started on the 1999 National- there is much to bedone, money to be raised and plans to be made. It alt has to start NOW!

BY LAW AMENDMENTSThe By-law amendments have been made and were approved at the August17, 1996 meeting. Copies of the current bylaws and membership packets willbe sent to all members by December 1, 1996 from Suzi Paine, VicePresident.

MINUTES OF 08-17-96 MEETINGThe membership and Board meetings were held at Suzi Paine's house inTacoma following a terrific BBQ. Present at the General Membershipmeeting were: Bonnie Varner, Suzi Paine, Jan Tweedie, Paula Rutherford,Cheri Brietinger, Noel Stockwell, Adriana Pavlinovic, Dave Lockridge. Themeeting was called to order at 8:55 PM. by President Bonnie Vamer. ThePresidents Report: Bonnie announced that the following new members wereapproved; Ray & Kay Schmitt; Judy & Myron Robb; Louise & Robert Uphus;Lynne & Steve Aguirre; Julie Cook; John Bonin; Betty & Mike Henslee;Adriana Pavlinovic; Lori Hague; Mike Tinkler; George & Sylvia Bowen;Albert & Della James; and Noel Stockwelt. This brings our membership to27! Secretary's report (Jan Tweedie); 3 membership applications pending.Katie Cole, Dave Lockridge and Alan Nichols. A summary of theirapplications will be in the newsletter. Copies of correspondence betweenRegional Specialty Chair Suzi Paine and the Yakima Kennel Club wereforwarded for the file. We have received out incorporation paperwork fromthe state and are now all set. Treasurers Report (Lynn Harty via Suzi Paine):Previous balance was $150.00; expenditures for state paperwork, income$260.00 in dues. Final balance: $410.00. A discussion ensued overdistribution of money. It was M/S/P to put the bulk of the money in Savings,keep $100 in checking, pay the check fee of $13.00. A motion (M/S/P) topurchase an endorsement stamp for the Treasurer to use for depositingmoneys.

By-Laws discussion. The membership section of the By-Laws have beenamended to drop the Associate membership. All membership may votewithout attending meetings however in order to hold office you must attend aminimum of 2 meetings per year. Two sponsors are required for amembership application. Applications that are turned in without sponsorinformation, lacking the proper fees or without signatures of the applicant onboth the application and the Code of Ethics will be returned. It was decidedthat sponsors must complete a Sponsor Form which Suzi Paine and AdriansPavlinovic will come up with. This avoids someone sponsoring someonethey know nothing about.

Old Business. 1997 Regional was discussed. Yakima KG is furnishing a 10'x20' tent covering at ringside and has granted us a larger-than-normal ring,50' x 70'. YKC will provide rosettes and an extra table for trophies. The BAGapproved both the supported show at Richland KG on Saturday 04-26, andthe Regional on 04-27. The Judges seminar will be put together by NoelStockwell and Katie Cole. Betty Henslee is coordinating the banquet forSaturday night in Yakima. The auction and raffle will be coordinated byPaula Rutherford and Cheri Brietinger. Bonnie Varner is putting hospitalitytogether. Trivets are 4 for $72. Most agreed that we need 1 for BOB andmaybe BOS but no more than that.

Next meeting will be October 13, 1996 at the Fall Trailing Event. The eventwill be at Ft. Steilacoom Park in Tacoma. Bring a sack lunch. The meetingshould be around 2:00 PM or so with trailing in the morning. SEE RELATEDARTICLES. August 17, 1996 BOARD MEETING MINUTESThe Board Meeting was held immediately following the Membership Meetingon August 17, 1996. The 3 pending membership applications (DaveLockridge, Katie Cole and Alan & Trenda Nichols) were approved formembership. The 1997 Regional Specialty Sweepstakes Judge ballot resultswere announced. 1st choice was Judy Robb (42 pts), 2nd was Lynne Aguirre(37 pts.), 3rd was Stacy Mattson (31 pts) and 4th was Jane Anderson (19pts). A letter will be sent to Judy Robb advising her of the results and theagreement for judging. There was a long discussion on rejection ofmembership applications and the process for that was discussed as it hasbeen revised in the By-Laws. A probationary period of membership wasdiscussed and an additional $5.00 application fee will be added tomembership applications beginning January 1, 1997. The application fee willbe non-refundabte. A Membership Packet will contain a roster, current issueof the newsletter, By-Laws, Code of Ethics, and Membership Card. Themeeting was ended at 12:48 AM August 18,1996.
