Well, another month has gone by and boy was it a busy one. Don Johnston and I went to Corvettes at Carlisle with three other guys from Tulsa. Carlisle was celebrating the 25th anniversary of Callaway Corvettes. I believe there were 28 Callaways there including one that sold for more than a quarter of a million dollars. It will be featured in an upcoming edition of Vette Magazine. As a registered owner I was given a limited edition bottle of wine from the Callaway winery. Yes, they do have a family winery in addition to the family golf business. I met Reeves Callaway and am in awe at how approachable he was and how easy it was to talk to him. I hope you get to meet him sometime. For those of you who were not at the meeting this month I have to tell you we had an incredible car show. Through the efforts of Gwen Adams and others we raised $3890.00 for our charities. My thanks go out to Jeff Bell and his awesome committee. You folks did an amazing job with the entire show and we have received several letters from participants bragging on our show and thanking us for a great weekend. Brenda Murphy and Mary Clayton are already at work on next year’s show. Some of you are aware that the center caps form two of our member’s cars were stolen during the meeting this month. I talked to Jeremy, one of the managers, at Western Sizzlin’. Jeremy called me back on Saturday to say he reviewed the video of their parking lot from the time before the first Vette arrived until he could no longer see what was going on in the dark. He saw no evidence of the thefts. He feels certain the theft occurred after dark. He is going to talk to the other managers and see if they have any suggestions to keep this from happening again. He said to extend his deepest sympathy at the thefts. Any suggestions you may have, I will be happy to forward to them. Don’t forget that Hawg Country Corvettes has invited us to their Friday night Bar B Que on October 5th, which is the Friday of the Eureka Springs show.. Our own Randy Imbeau and Jeff Hunter will be smoking a lot of meat and I can assure you it is wonderful. If you come please bring a side dish, chairs to sit in and whatever YOU plan to drink. This event is a lot of fun. They have been doing this for about six years now and it is well attended. Come and enjoy. I look forward to seeing you at the Eureka Springs show. Have a great month. This year’s show was maybe the best show we have ever had. Attendance and registrations were at an all-time high with 81 guest cars and 38 host cars for a total of 119 gorgeous Corvettes for attendees to enjoy. Even the weather was great!

Our Friday evening welcome event was well-attended, too. We served burgers and hot dogs to approximately 125 members and guests. The highlight of the evening was the spectacular silent auction. Everyone was waiting to see if they had the winning bid on one of the many auction items. The auction raised $3,890. Thanks go out to Gwen Adams and members of her committee for securing so many great auction items.

The total netted by the show was $7417.54. This money will be divided between our two charities, Loving Choices and Meals on Wheels, Benton County. We are very fortunate to have the support of Chevrolet of Fayetteville so our expenses are covered and we can give more to these two worthy charities. Many thanks to all members of the committees, and especially the chairpeople. We couldn’t do this without all your involvement and commitment to the show.

Car Show 2013Co-chairs for the 2013 Summer’s End Corvette Show put on by the Northwest Arkansas Covette Club will be Brenda Murphy and Mary Clayton. The show will be August 23 and 24, 2013. We will start making plans soon. We hope you will be able to help us out again next year.

They will need lots of help and will be starting soon with plans. Next month, we need to talk about selecting charities for next year. Next year’s show will be August 23-24, 2013.We have been asked to provide 14-15 convertibles again this year for the Greenland High School Homecoming Parade.
