President’s Report

Hello to all members, partners and families.

I hope you are enjoying these frosty mornings. The committee had a meeting on June 10th and we decided not to have a general meeting at the end of June. By now all members should have their membership renewal form, either by email or with your May mailed newsletter in the post. If you do not have your membership renewal form, please contact Ian Rees or myself as we don`t want you missing out on membership renewal. Thank you to all those who have already renewed and returned their membership forms. It is important to get the forms back so that we can keep members’ detail including vehicles on Club Plates up to date.

On Saturday 27th of June we are having a membership renewal day from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Club Rooms. So if you haven’t paid by then you are welcome to come along and make sure you bring your form with any amendments and signed. We will also be signing membership yellow cards for those who have renewed their membership, and also we will be signing VicRoads registration renewals. Come and pay us a visit as we will be pleased to see you but please conform to the government’s requirements for distancing etc. The committee will decide at the July committee meeting when we are able to have our next general meeting and will keep you updated in the July newsletter and by email for those on the email circulation.. To all who are not feeling well, I hope you are feeling better soon. Cheers for now, Ken Perrett, Club President.

New Member Welcome Letter About 20 new members have joined the Club since last year’s AGM. As Secretary I was supposed to send out to each

new member a copy of a welcome letter. I failed, but to make up for that omission I have included that letter below

for all new members and for all other members. The Club also has a document called “Club Permit Scheme By-Laws”

which was issued in 2015 but now needs revision. I will try and have that revised and inserted in the next newsletter.

newsletters. If you are reading this and don’t have your renewal then email the club’s email address or call Ian Rees.

Check that information on the form is correct; make changes as necessary and sign. Either scan and email it back to

[email protected]; or mail to the Club’s P.O Box 560. We want to ensure that the Club’s records are up to date.

Annual subscription payment can be either by direct deposit into the Club’s South West Credit account or by cheque

in the mail. No cash. If you pay by direct deposit include your name and membership number as the reference.

The membership term is July 1st to June 30th. The annual subscription fee is $70. Annual subscriptions are due and

payable on July 1st and should be paid within one month. If paid after this the amount rises to $95. VicRoads

requires that people who have vehicles on Club Plates be financial members of their club. If you have not paid your

membership subscription by July 1 it is advisable that you do not drive your vehicle on Club Plates until you have

paid your subscription.

the permit authorised. Ensure you maintain required social distancing.

The Victorian Government has announced an easing of COVID19 restrictions.

Lake Pertobe Donation Handover

Finally, with Covid-19 receeding we handed over the cheque on June 3rd for the donations raised at the lake Pertobe

Car display back in January. A cheque for $1500 was handed over by President Ken Perrett to the Principal of the

Warrnambool Special School, Robert Dowell. The location was the new school in Woolaston Road. Murray Murfett

and Ian Rees were also in attendance with their Dodges in the photo and Roy Begelhole was there with his 2CV

Tigger but it was dodging the photo. Robert passed on his thanks to the Club and said that the government funded

the actual building of the school but a lot of the extras and equipment had to be funded by grants and donations like

ours. Some of the students were there at the small ceremony and after the photos took the opportunity to hop in

the cars and asked questions about them. Robert also took us for a tour of the impressive new facility.

Thanks to all the Club volunteers who brought their cars along to the display and manned the gates and BBQ etc.

Humour Two guys are chatting in a bar... One says, "Did you hear the news - Mike is dead!" "Wooo, what the hell happened to him?" "Well he was on his way over to my house the other day and when he arrived outside the house, he didn't brake properly and boom - He hit the pavement and the car flips up and he crashes through the sunroof, went flying through the air and smashed through my upstairs bedroom window." "What a horrible way to die!" "No no, he survived that, that didn't kill him at all. So, he's landed in my upstairs bedroom and he's all covered in broken glass on the floor. Then, he spots the big old antique wardrobe we have in the room and reaches up for the handle to try to pull himself up. He's just dragging himself up when bang!!!, this massive wardrobe comes crashing down on top of him, crushing him and breaking most of his bones." "What a way to go, that's terrible!" "No no, that didn't kill him either. He managed to get the wardrobe off himself and crawls out onto the landing. He tries to pull himself up on the banister but under his weight, the banister breaks and he goes falling down onto the first floor. In mid air, all the broken banister poles spin and fall on him, pinning him to the floor, sticking right through him." "Now that is the most unfortunate way to go!"

"No no, that didn't kill him, he even survived that. So now he's on the downstairs landing, just beside the kitchen. He crawls in to the kitchen, tries to pull himself up on the cooker, but reached for a big pot of boiling hot water and whoosh, the whole thing came down on him and burned most of his skin off him." "Man, what a way to go!" "No no, he survived that, he survived that! He's lying on the ground, covered in boiling water and he spots the phone and tries to pull himself up, to call for help, but instead he grabs the lamp cord. The water and electricity didn't mix and so he got electrocuted, wallop, 10,000 volts shot through him." "Now that is one awful way to go!" "No no, he survived that, he..." "Hold on now, just how the hell did he die?" "I shot him!" "You shot him? What the hell did you shoot him for?" "The bugger was wrecking my house!"

Port Fairy Members trip to Beeac

May 13th 2020 On Sunday 7th A small group of members from Port Fairy (and a Warrnambool blow-in ) set off on a post lockdown

cruise to Beeac Hotel for coffee and conversation. The Colac car club use this as a regular Sunday meeting point and

a number of their members and cars were there filling up the available pandemically allowed spaces. Along with

coffee we were lucky enough to be invited to view a couple of local sheds/caves and attend a talk on the local

windmill industry that flourished in Beeac early last century.
