President’s Comments:We are ready and look forward to opening the Hubertuskeller again in September; with a new cook in the kitchen! Unfortunately some repairs and replacement work were necessary in the kitchen during the summer to have it ready for the fall. The old fridge finally died, so a new one had to be purchased and the ovens also needed repairs. The total cost was just over $5,000.00.

To help with this unexpected expense the Fisher and Hunter Group gave us a donation of $1,000.00. The Executive wishes to thank the Fisher and Hunter Group for their generous donation. Any donation amount will be greatly appreciated from the Membership.

Many of us are still enjoying the hot hazy days of Summer with are families and friends. September seems far away but it is just around the corner there are only a couple of weeks before the Labour Day Weekend! The Club will soon be in full swing with the opening of the Hubertuskeller on September 14 at 5:00 pm.

The Great Vibes will keep us on our feet as we celebrate Heimatabend on September 15. Cost for Members is $12.00 and for Guests $18.00. Peter Hoffmann, our Movie Co-Ordinator will start the Sunday Afternoon Movie Lineup on September 9, at 2:00pm. Anneliese Hoepp and Ursula Hoffmann will once again tempt you with their delicious homemade cakes during intermission.

In Memory of:Irma Puscher has passed away on June 7, in her 95 year. Irma had been a member of the Club for very many years and she was also active on the Executive Committee. We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to her loving family regarding the loss of their dearly loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Irma will forever be remembered by relatives and friends. At this time we would also like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to Heidi (nee Puscher) and Ron Woodhouse for the loss of their dear beloved daughter Katherine Kristine Gibson “Kathi” (nee Puscher). Kathi passed away July 31, 2018 at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice.

Gerda Roseneck has passed away on July 23, in her 92 year. Gerda was a Club member for more than 35 years. We wish to extend our sincerest condolences to the family for the loss of their beloved mother and grandmother. Gerda will be forever remembered by relatives and friends in both Canada and Germany.

For the 53rd Gründungsfest the banquet room was beautifully decorated. A Big Thank You to Lydia Mulhbauer and the helpers for their dedicated work. We also applaud and thank Ursula Hoffmann, the cook, the many helpers (including the Executive Committee) for working together and preparing the delicious Buffet Dinner. Thank you to Andrea and Arpad Szirtes for the tasty rice dish that accompanied the meal. After the satisfying meal, “The Golden Keys Band” kept the crowd on the dance floor for the remainder of the evening. The many happy Guests left the Club with fond memories of a very entertaining evening!

A Great Opportunity: McMASTER - AUSTRIA EXCHANGE PROGRAMSThe Exchange Programs offer Undergraduate Students an opportunity to visit another country, learn about other educational systems, improve their German language skills and in many cases reconnect with Austria. The Exchange Programs are well supported by the McMaster International Student Office and the Canadian and International Student Offices in Graz and Innsbruck.

These Programs have been running for 12 years and are open to students in almost all areas of study. (Graz specializes in engineering disciplines.) Students can study one semester, a full year or take intensive language courses in the summer.
