Dual Key Concept PropertyA Dual Key Concept Property is one which (usually) has a self-contained studio accessible via a door inside the main apartment. There is a common hallway connecting the two sections, each with its own lockable door. The obvious advantage to having a dual-key property is that there are effectively two units that could be rented out separately or serve as a partition affording its tenants more privacy.

Setting the time for this photoshoot wasn't very easy! The Aslam family was extremely busy... There was almost always guests in the home and some sort of function going on! Mrs Aslam just love to be surrounded by visiting family members.

And because she loves people, Mrs Aslam makes sure her home is fully equipped with all the comfort stuff that makes the environment both warm, appealing and of course very inviting and welcoming for anyone who steps in.

This is the open-concept kitchenthat produces all the food for thenumerous and endlessfunctions...

The modern kitchen that is functional,aesthetically pleasing and yet durableenough to cater to a busy cook.

The owner asked for tiles insteadof glass. She didn't want toomuch gloss.

The handles are carefully selectedso that there are no sharp edges,nor are there any protrusion thatcan "catch" our clothes.

The Long Island Unit


You may wonder why this long island unit has no chair or leg-in space for people to sit, unlike most other kitchens. The owner explained that she had enough sitting space : a large dining table for proper sit-down dinners, and a kopitiam marble table in the garden for coffee or light meals. What she needed was lots of WORK SPACE - space for her to prepare food, must be big enough for the maid or any other relative/friend who is assisting her because her kitchen is an extremely busy one.

She has chosen the top brand of solid surface - Dupont Corian which is an American brand and is stain-resistant (however Dupont Corian is not scratch-proof ).

Tips for Dupont Corian Care:A few weeks before this photoshoot, Mrs Aslam showed me some yellowish stains on the solid surface that she couldn't get rid of. Her maid had wanted to use an abrasive detergent Cif to remove the stain. I said "NO!" ..anything abrasive would spoil the surface, because it's not scratch-proof.

The proper way is -

a) Use your finger to rub a clear detergent (not abrasive) like Sunglo or Sunlight into the stain.

b) Leave for 15 minutes.

c) Clean with a soft cloth and water.

d) If the stain is not much, this suffice. However,if there are any more remaining stains, repeat (a) to (c) again.

e) After removing stain, apply wax - PLEDGE Furniture Polish, which can be available in Ace hardware or Harvey Norman. I’ve also seen this in ColdStorage.

f) The purpose of step (e) is to leave a layer of oil for the shiny glow. Also, the layer of oil prevents stubborn stains like curry and coffee from seeping in.

nter the tuners section of the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and one company stood out with a dark theme. Not only were all the cars displayed black in colour (and all Land Rovers), but the carpet as

well. With only a contrasting red carpet in the centre or else you just might struggle to locate the entrance. Any darker and they might as well not be there.

The Kahn Design stand was therefore a photographer’s nightmare, as the black cars blends in with the black carpet and your camera having little reference points to focus on. Funny that, because just right next to Kahn Design is another tuning company Startech where they displayed only white Land Rovers under bright light as if it was a deliberate move.

Back to the point. I’m curious to know how a company like Kahn Design came to be and how it became what it is today. Thankfully unlike a couple of other tuning compa-nies I’ve visited, I managed to avoid speaking with some PR/Marketing guy who would just repeat to me the perfectly constructed lines, with sugar-coated and vague adjectives such as “precision” and “passion” which you can find in every car brochure. No, I went straight to the founder himself. A British born chap named Afzal Kahn where I got to talk to him about his company bearing his name.

H o w was t h ec o m pa n y f o u n d e d ?“It started off as a hobby. Project of a young boy who loves cars. It was a dream of a young boy who loved cars, and wanted to do something totally different but exciting, with great

inspiration and ambition and who is a big dreamer. So that’s how we started. By the age of seventeen or eighteen he (himself) wanted to learn how to make parts, over the period of three or four years he mastered the manufacturing of parts because he was passionate about what he wanted to do. He achieved his goals and went on to designing wheels, and grew from designing wheels to designing interiors, designing watches, and designing everything to do with lifestyle.

Eventually, he started designing the parts and the wheels and using car manufacturers to fit the parts. So he basically designs car parts for cars that is done, and started doing car conversions. Then this business runs for few years and then to cut a long story short, he started designing and manufacturing his own cars. The new brand Huntsman, is his own new car. The 6×6 is the first prototype, and the 4×4 is the second prototype.”

S o H u n t s m a n i s a t o ta l lyn e w ca r c o m pa n y ?“Yea it’s a totally new car company. Coachbuld-ing. So basically using an existing chassis, and rebuilding a brand new body.”

D o yo u m a i n ly b u i l dL a n d R o v e rs ?“We do many cars, but the main one is Land Rover. It is very British, iconic and we are British ourselves. So why do we need to recreate and rebrand a new product when you can use an existing car. This car is now become fashion, is a trend. So now we are working with this car.”

W i t h s o m a n y c o m p e t i t o rs ,w h at m a k e s K a h n s ta n d o u t ?“They are not (competitors). They are more parts businesses selling parts for cars. We are more lifestyle. You buy Kahn, because you buy it, because it’s a lifestyle. You don’t buy it because you want to buy some wheels. You buy it because you’re more into design and fashion.

So if you look at this: Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Paul Smith, Vivienne West-wood, these are all people’s names. My name is A. Kahn (Afzal Kahn), so you are the face when you buy. You buy into the lifestyle, you buy the personal touch. So this is what I do. You’re buying into a fashion brand. And my quote is The Road Is My Catwalk. I’m the road with my catwalk.”

S o i s i t fa i r t o say t h atyo u h av e n o d i r e c t r i va ls ?“No no no no (Agrees). I designed it myself. They have many designers.”

People who understand our business will buy our products. They understand they want something different and unique. People who buys into our products because they understand it’s been designed by a guy who’ve been in this business all his life, and has a passion for cars. When you have a passion for cars and you go to work, because you have to go to work to earn money, and follow the trend. We set the trend.”

“It is mysterious how this one looks. Looks unique. These are not Satin Black, these are grey, Pearl Dark Grey. Not Satin Black, Satin Black is old.”

Also, I did the 6×6 to say that the British were the first to do the 6×6. So we’ve engineered this properly. Mercedes-Benz is much bigger than me so obviously they will be doing a better job, but as a showcase that they are not the only company who have invented the 6×6. It hasn’t been invented by them, it’s been invented by the British.”

B u t K a h n a ls o o f f e rsm o d i f i cat i o n s f o r t h eG - Wa g e n r i g h t ?“Yea we are about to do a G-Wagen program only for the G-Wagen. There will be a TV show about it on National Geographic.”

And on that program we will be building various designs and models, but more customization.”

W h o i s yo u r i n s p i r at i o n ?“Nobody. My dream was to become powerful at what I’m good at. And I knew one thing I was good at. I was good at focusing, focusing on something that I would enjoy doing.”

Afzal’s facial expression may seem very neutral and I have yet to see him smiling, but you cannot deny his pride and confidence in his company just from the way he speaks. A humble guy he is not, and that is clearly translated to his products. And that is perhaps what makes his company what it is today and the success speaks for itself.

T H E KO E N I G S E G G R E G E R A

A NEW BREEDOF HYPERCAR

1500 combined horsepower, 2000 Nm of torque from a gearbox-less hybrid car weighing only 1628kg may sound like a fantasy car from a video game, but

these stats are very real, and the car in question is the Koenigsegg Regera. The brainchild of Swedish

automotive mastermind Christian von Koenigsegg.

e all know about the impressive Agera RS and of course the record-breaking One:1 megacar, but the Regera is even more pow-erful and yet more comfort-oriented than

either one of them. That’s saying something as both the Agera RS and One:1 are comfortable road cars which just so happens to excel on the track.

In order to achieve such huge performance while increasing driving comfort, almost everything about the Agera RS it’s loosely based on have to be redesigned, as Koenigsegg himself told me. “We can start out with the carbon fibre chassis monocoque. We have to redesign that to get a 9.2 kilowatt power battery pack in the centre, so it’s wider. We’ve redesigned the whole foot-well area as well, with new paddle box and wider shapes to the outside to main-tain the spaciousness we are used to. Then we have more sound insulation as this is more of a road car, and we have a six-way electric memory seats.”

And speaking of electric memory seats, Koenigsegg claims that the Regera is the world’s first fully-robotized car. Meaning every part that could be opened or deployed such as the doors, hood, bonnet, front rear spoilers, lift systems are all hydraulically robotized and does not require manual manpower to operate if so desired. Even cooler fact is that at a touch of a button on your key or smartphone will allow you to open or close the doors, hood, bonnet etc simulta-neously. Koenigsegg even described it that it looks just like a Transformers character transforming!

Design wise, the Regera is an obvious departure from the Agera’s sharper design language in favor of a slightly more sculpted, and dare I say it, elegant design. “It’s very fluid, liquid, simplistic, minimalistic, and elegant.” as Koenigsegg himself puts it. Even the daytime-running-lights are posi-tioned into constellation-style layout which gives them a “glitter and shine” effect. As for the overall design, Koenigsegg used bird life, dolphins and other dynamic animals as inspiration for the Regera.

Powering the Regera is a combination of Koenigsegg’s tried and tested twin-turbo 5.0 liter V8 engine used in the Agera line of cars as well as three powerful electric motors. The engine alone produces a whopping 1100hp, around 100hp more than a standard Bugatti Veyron. On top of that, Koenigsegg adds three more electric motors, a 180kW motor for each rear wheel, and a 160kW unit on the crank-shaft. These two powerplants adds up to a combined real-life output of an unbelievable 1500hp. To put that into perspective, the Veyron Super Sport “only” has around 1200hp while weighing a couple hundreds of kilos more.

Regera is the Swedish word of “to reign”, and while the statistics and facts do make the Regera the leader in the segment on paper, the world have yet to see the Regera in action and real-world performance is just as if not more important than mere statistics. But seeing as how Koenigsegg has proven again and again with the very first CCS model over a decade ago, to the One:1 megacar, the Regera is no doubt going to be the reigning champion in terms of automotive innovation and performance. Until the Veyron successor arrives next year of course.

Thrillseekers rejoice! With the advent of Tadom Base, an exciting weekend destination is available for adrenaline junkies without blowing a hole in the wallet. Located in the outskirts of Banting, and is a flourishing tourism destination catering especially to those practicing an active lifestyle. It is an area which spans over 40 acres of limestone hills, lakes and most importantly, large swathes of mother nature which remains untouched by the claws of civilisation.

The area has many facets to its beauty, and the attraction that has received the most overwhelming of responses is Tadom Base. It is an extreme park with three zones, designed to challenge the mental and physical limits of its users with more than 30 different types of obstacles. Apart from the course, other team activities such bamboo raft building is also available and particularly suitable for teambuilding outings.

Tadom Base has a quarry lake sitting right beside it, and participants whom are not totally confident with water are required by management to wear lifejackets as the high mineral content of the water reduces the natural buoyancy of humans. The manage-ment is active in organizing events at Tadom Base and the responses from the public to the past few events such as Warrior Madness and Warrior Sprint have been nothing short of overwhelming.

Few things in life are more rewarding than savoring some well-earned rest at the end of a long day. After a trying day under the Malaysian sun in the extreme park, Tadom Hill Resorts strives to provide the environment for relaxation and recuperation with

nature as the sole backdrop. The designs within the resort implement bamboo and straw designs to accentuate the harmonious coexistence of practicality and aesthetics without taking anything away from the magnificent beauty that is mother nature.

Visitors can opt for the Tadom Base Camp, which consists of camping grounds where they are to erect their own camps, or experience the Tadom Hammock Sphere - a circular straw hut with ten hammocks connected to a single headpost in the centre, with a skylight directly above. It serves to add a tribal twist to the experience, and is one of the few destinations in Malaysia where one can enjoy stargazing comfortably whilst bonding with fellow friends.

The resort's main attraction features an area known as Tadom Groove, which is a live performance venue with a gorgeous turquoise lake as its backdrop. It has served as the venue of an event known as Groove On, where amateur performers take to the stage with their Ukuleles and various instruments and see if they can’t make the party-goers below move to their groove.

For those interested in aboriginal culture, there is a Kampung Orang Asli located near Tadom, and the management of Tadom Hills regularly includes them in the events hosted at the resort. Various new additions are coming to Tadom, and us at CloudHax hopes that destinations such as this would flourish and lead the masses away from their sedentary lifestyles.

1Morningwood is a café that replaces the previous Flat White, expanding the list of hipster cafes in SS15 Subang Jaya. One of the owners is a famed YouTube celebrity, Reuben Kang! Food here comes in great variety with quirky names such as “Ham” Sap (a sandwich made of layered chicken ham and chicken meat) and Orgasm (cheesy oozy sandwich). It is another café that you should visit for the popular Korean bingsu and it’s deemed better than the famous rival Caffe Bene. Apparently the bingsu here is finer and softer, melting in the mouth with palatable flavours. Come here for the desserts and stay for the coffees as they serve Marley Coffee, a coffee brand by the

legendary Bob Marley’s son.

Ahoy CaféA café themed with a sailor atmosphere – one that has done it pretty well. Great play of designs from the colours to the ornaments. Cozy with some streaming of natural lighting makes this café advantaged for good food photog-raphy. What’s good here? The bagel sandwiches are worth opting for or if you are a fan of wraps, their signature kimchi wrap should be able to please you.

Albeit the surfaced complaints that services are not on par here, food however is rather promising with its full-fledged menu from breakfast to dinner. Cakes, especially the one named Meteora is

apparently the best-seller here.

Project SpaceA space for social projects? Project Space is a profoundly minimalistic monochrome café run by online celebrity, Ms. Jane Chuck and her entourage of friends. Coffees are the integral menu here and as much as minimalism is advocated here, coffees are none other than good. Tiny bites and juices by The Juice Co are also available so if you’re looking for a quite space for work or chats, Project Space it is.
