Introduction & Context
This is a summary of the Cloud Vendor Report (CLOVER) information held on file by Behind Every
Cloud Ltd with regard to Cloudify UK Ltd. This information is supplied strictly under the terms of the
prevailing Non Disclosure Agreement and must not be provided to a third party without the express
prior written permission of BEC.
The purpose of this report is to quickly convey the outcomes of the comprehensive analysis of key
high-level metrics and attributes of Cloudify UK Ltd by Behind Every Cloud as they pertain to the
provision of Infrastructure centric Private and Multi-Tenanted Cloud Services to meet the needs of
Medium sized London Asset and Investment Management firms.
About the BEC Report and the CLOVER™ Rating Scale
Behind Every Cloud is a specialist consultancy providing proven expert advice on IT Strategy and
Cloud Vendor Selection to its target niche markets within the London Finance Sector. The partners of
BEC are Senior IT Infrastructure Consultants, with over 63 years of combined design, delivery and
management experience.
The CLOVERTM rating scale is a visual summary of the relative score of the Cloud Services offered
to the London Finance sector by Cloudify UK Ltd against a number of key vendor selection criteria –
with a rating from 0 to 5 (zero typically reflects a “no data held” status).
Our Approach to Data Collection and Data Accuracy
Behind Every Cloud routinely conducts Cloud Vendor Selection consultancy engagements on
behalf of clients in the London Finance Sector. These selection processes are extremely thorough
and involve the arduous submission of extensive information by Cloud Vendors, and the subsequent
detailed analysis of the information by our specialist consultants. The ongoing effort invested by BEC
on this Vendor Due Diligence and Pre-Qualification work will in turn significantly reduce the amount
of cost and drain on resources usually required to complete a typical 2 stage RFI / RFP vendor
selection process when compared to the more common approach of conducting this process from
a standing start.
From the outset, the process and systems adopted for these engagements was designed to
capture, update, electronically analyse and enable a quantified comparison report such as this for
all vendors involved. We also aspire to accurately rate our own confidence in our data and to
provide transparent information about its source.

Cloudify UK Ltd at a Glance
 OVERALL CLOVER™ RATING
Within the caveat of the report data confidence rating (left), this score presents the overall Cloud Vendor Rating for Cloudify UK Ltd as a provider of core Infrastructure as a Service and/or Platform as a Service environments.
NB: This report does NOT therefore include or assess the quality of services offered by Cloudify UK Ltd for the provision of: - On-site (i.e. on-premise) remote server
management services - Standalone Disaster Recovery as a Service or
Backup as a Service - Desktop and end user support services - Niche specific application / platform support - Market data feeds or low-latency trading services
Where the client requires BEC to provide an assessment of these or other service components, this will be presented under separate cover to the client along side this standard Clover Report.
Long history of Cloud Platform development
Very strong commercially, UK wide and globally
Excellent understanding of Cisco UCS and NetApp Flexpod reference architecture (and Software Defined Networking)
DC sites too close for FCA compliance
Perhaps too large and bureaucratic for some smaller clients. A lack of vertical alignment restricts ability to map to more specific needs.
SAN based replication, and Self Service orchestration and DR automation capabilities not sophisticated.

Overview including Commercial Strength and UK Cloud Pedigree
With a pedigree derived from a history of networking and compute layer support of customers internal environments, Cloudify is a very large global IT vendor that is able to provide a full range of UK wide service offerings - including a respectable Cloud platform - to the UK finance market. Their commercial size and global pedigree provides a level of confidence with regard to depth and quality of available resource, and their relatively early (2009) entry into the Cloud market when compared to the peers has resulted in mature platform. In the South American operation in particular, Cloudify is experiencing dramatic growth. As the XXX biggest Cisco partner and XXX biggest NetApp partner in the UK, Cloudify has solid leverage over, and an enviable basis upon which to expect speedy issue resolution for the FlexPod platform. Their overall DC topology is acceptable without being outstanding, and when combined with their deep understanding of the Cisco NetApp UCS reference architecture and software defined networking results in a highly credible offering. In BEC’s view, Cloudify is a solid example of a more traditional large scale Value Added Reseller / Systems Integrator that has added a “Cloud” / IaaS capability to its portfolio. For client’s requiring a less commoditised, more bespoke solution, Cloudify are considered likely to be a good fit.
Infrastructure Architecture including DC Topology & Platform
Cloudify has invested heavily in Cloud technologies and Data Centre facilities over a protracted period. Of particular note is their relatively early real-world implementation of what has become defined as a "Software Defined Environment". In 2013 Cloudify had built and were able to demonstrate the only working implementation that BEC had seen of a truly portable physical Flexpod/UCS Cloud platform. Cloudify claim that their work in this area was a heavy influencer on the Flexpod reference architecture definition. Their investment in scripting development and toolsets centred around the Cisco and NetApp UCS / Flexpod reference architecture stack enables an automated build out of a Cloud stack and associated configurations to support the "push button" move of load from one UCS physical footprint to another identical stack in a different DC. Whilst this end result is now largely equally achievable at the virtualisation layer using new age replication tools such as Zerto - it is certainly none-the-less an impressive technical achievement. BEC have not yet completed a Due Diligence visit on the purpose built Tier 3 Cloudify XXXXXXXX DC that was acquired in 201X as a part of the £X0M XXXXXXX Ltd purchase, but the site is reportedly of a high standard. The (more recently invested in) XXXXXXXX DC - whilst certainly a high quality facility - does betray its origins as a DC built within the outer skin of a traditional commercial building. Of probably greater concern is the relatively limited physical separation between these sites which at 1X miles is at the lower threshold of current views of ideal. However the high level of “SDN” capability that Cloudify can deliver in the form of the Flexpod Reference Architecture enables them to quickly and consistently deploy new, somewhat bespoke, dedicated environments into any third party (or on-premise) DC of a client’s choosing. Their relationship with Equinix also allows a level of well connected colo/vendor diversity choice. As well as a very strong ability to build Flexpod reference architecture based Private / Dedicated environments, Cloudify offer three "flavours" of pure play Cloud: - An AIX Chipset based version - a Shared x86 UCS Stack -- and the "XXXXXXXX" £/resource/minute version of same Clients can cross connect to the XXXXXXXX Cloud for "burst" requirements and physical servers can be iScsi or FC connected into a dedicated platform. Cloudify will offer solutions using a dedicated compute layer connected to a shared storage playtform if so required. In Q1 2016 Cloudify announced their Cloud 2.0 offering which is essentially a vcloud director with a AirVM portal

IaaS Cloud Platform and Services Maturity
As at Q1 2016, Cloudify were designing their Cloud V2.0 offering. Cloudify have developed their cloud offerings over a 5 year period and the V1.0 Cloud platformis based on the proven Cisco Netapp Flexpod UCS reference architecture. Their investment in tools to support the software based reconfiguration of the Cisco Blade compute, Cisco Nexus switching and the Netapp SAN prove a deep understanding of these technologies and their applications within Cloud platforms. They have a relatively small number of Cloud customers - but each client operates a relatively large Cloud footprint with Cloudify (average approx. X00 VM's - but this is heavily skewed by one very large XXXXXX sector customer). The option of either Cisco C series Rack Mount or B Series Chassis servers provides modularity. For Private Cloud clients Cloudify deploy a range of automation and orchestration options, and consequently the potential for clients to meet their user self-service and Development Operations support is good. Cloudify can offer a managed DR service using either SAN dependent (NetApp SnapMirror or IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC)) for data/VM replication, or Virtualisation layer implementation of vSphere SRM, but offer only a Design and Deliver function for Veeam. This potentially introduces limitations in the extent to which Recovery Point Objectives can be reduced below a 15 minute threshold, can increase vendor stickiness and also can restrict the extent to which recovery point “consistency” across an application Protection Group can be guaranteed. Cloudify can install and manage either VMware vRealize Orchestration or CA Automation Suite Orchestration to provide e.g. self service and cost transparency features.
Operational Risk Profile
Cloudify is a global firm with very large annual operational revenues. In the UK their turnover is just shy of £X00M, a growth of some £X5M which includes operations in XXXXXXX acquired during 201X. Their Cloud revenues are growing at a health rate, nearly doubling over the 2 years to 201X. Their maximum credit score from D&B is very large indicating them to be a "safe" partner, and whilst their relatively small negative tangible net worth (-£X.6M) is possibly an accounting reflection of the XXXX refinancing arrangements ,it may be worthy of further investigation.
Reference Clients and Vertical Alignment
Cloudify has a number of Finance clients including XXXXXXX Building Society, and is based in XXXXXX, but has only recently fully committed internally to a strategic alignment with the Finance sector (among others). BEC’s primary concerns in recommending Cloudify for consideration to small and medium sized organisations are that whilst they offer a full end-to-end “one throat to choke” service fully delivered by UK centric staff, they remain a very large organisation. Accordingly we remain to be convinced that they will be as responsive as is required to the needs of smaller clients in the finance niche market.
