4Cloud Defining the Workplace of the Future
A New Way toMove Your OfficeThe right ICT solutions, can help any business run
faster, more efficiently and productively.
Most companies opt to invest in ICT to enable their
employees to speed up working processes, be more
effective and agile. With higher productivity and
better customer satisfaction, organisations can expect
higher company profitability. As cloud technology is
maturing, it is able to address many business needs
in today’s business landscape. Many organisations
are eager to adopt various cloud-based solutions for
better efficiency and agility.
Telkomtelstra, as a leading end-to-end managed
solutions service provider, together with Cloud
Service Provider (CSP), Microsoft Indonesia, have
partnered to provide a cloud-based Microsoft Office
365 solution that is integrated with the Managed
WAN Optimisation Service. The utilization of Office
365 will allow organizations to improve their business
collaboration, efficiency and productivity.
This will allow organisations to have more efficient
cost management, support and network performance
when rolling out the Office 365 cloud platform.
5Cloud Defining the
Workplace of the Future
There are, however, challenges associated with
moving to and management of Office 365, and the
telkomtelstra Office 365 product contains additional
value to address these common challenges that our
customers will face. An example of an organization
who has adopted Office 365 is a retail company with
a dozen branches across Indonesia. The head office is
in Jakarta, employing more than 100 people who are
mostly mobile when they are working. The company
is currently in the developmental period where
it is critical that organisation is highly accessible,
collaborative, and has information and data that are
managed properly.
The company tried to combine multiple vendors to
support their operation.
Different products from different vendors are
combined to provide multi-solution for software,
data storage, email server and communications.
However, it proved to be time-consuming and costly
with many vendors to manage and a much higher
TCO. Since they adopted Office 365 as their all-round
productivity solution, their employees are now able
to work faster and share information in a much more
efficient manner.
The spending can then be optimised by converting
CAPEX to OPEX. Office 365 is an effective and
efficient business solution.
Office 365 enables employees to access their office
works, files, documents and emails anywhere,
anytime, using their own devices. The work flow
will run smoother and employees can significantly
speed up the work process. Moreover, SharePoint
in Office 365 can be used as a digital library that can
be accessed by anyone with an account of the same
group (i.e: Company).
With SharePoint, we can build an internal company
website consisting a document library of policies,
marketing guideline and sales tool-kit. Having a
centralized, transparent and accessible data centre
like SharePoint, clearly we can build a more efficient
working process.

BusinessProductivity:Is It What Your Company Needs?
The business landscape is changing. With increased competition, and customer centric markets, companies need to implement strategies to remain competitive in the digital era.
Digital transformation is transformingthe Asian business landscape
Against the backdrop of a business
environment characterized by
high levels of uncertainty and
change, digital transformation
is altering business models,
customer expectations, and
employee dynamics. While change
is not a new concept, digital
adoption is catalyzing the pace of
transformation.
Competing in the digital era will
demand organizations to be more
flexible, agile and integrated.
Organizations will need real
time insights and a highly
collaborative environment to drive
continual innovation and create
differentiation.
To achieve this, investing in digital
technologies will be crucial. Digital
investments will be pivotal in
identifying emerging business
opportunities, evaluating resource
requirements, and engaging with
internal and external stakeholders.
Asia-Pacific (APAC) enterprises
are cognizant of the need for
digital investments.
Business leaders are showing keen
interest in assessing technology
trends, and increasing their
budgets for digital initiatives.
Digital-first initiatives have
become the strategic imperative
for leading enterprises in Asia.
7Cloud Defining the
Workplace of the Future
According to a Frost & Sullivan’s
APAC end-user survey, 93%
of APAC enterprises consider
themselves to be early in
embarking on the digital
transformation journey as
compared to their peers (With
57% considering themselves as
Early adopters and another 36%
considering themselves as Early
Majority while selecting their
Digital Transformation Readiness
on the 4 levels ).
This highlights the high focus
of enterprises in the region on
adopting digital solutions and
technology investments. Further,
only 2% enterprises consider
themselves as laggard in the 2017
survey compared to 5% in 2016 -
marking the increasing number of
enterprises initiating their journey
towards digital transformation.

Collaboration & productivity – Key levers for sustained growth in the digital era
The focus on increasing
productivity continues to gain
importance for corporate and
functional leaders. Productivity
centric metrics are emerging as
key KPIs across leadership and
managerial roles. It is no surprise
that “Improving Productivity”
is ranked as the second
most important driver for IT
investments by APAC enterprises
over the next 3 years.
Collaboration with internal and
external stakeholders will be
critical to achieve the desired
productivity improvements as well
as reduce operational expenses.
It is one of the key reasons why
we are witnessing increasing
investments on collaboration
technologies.
Frost & Sullivan’s survey
highlighted that 20% of
APAC enterprises believe
communications & collaboration
technologies have the greatest
influence on their organization’s
cost reduction.
Enterprises will continue to
become more complex, with
extended ecosystems, operating
across distributed locations. It
will thus be fundamental for these
enterprises to be able to leverage
internal skill sets, maximize
potential and innovate by creating
a truly collaborative environment.

Cloud Solutions – A compelling value proposition

Collaboration has therefore
become a key lever for sustained
growth in the digital era. 61.5%
of Asian organizations surveyed
plan to increase investments in
Unified Communications and
Collaborations tools within the
next 2 years. While the scope and
coverage of these technologies
continues to evolve, companies
not investing in digital tools
may find difficulties in attaining
sustained growth in today’s digital
era.
Business and technology decision
makers in APAC clearly view cloud
deployments being the preferred
way forward for their technology
roadmap. Although the reasons or
favoring cloud deployments vary,
the significant benefits offered by
cloud models over ‘on-premise’ are
being well acknowledged.
It is no surprise that cloud
solutions are rapidly gaining
maturity across industry verticals.
Even verticals with high security
compliances, such as the Banking
and Financial services sector, are
migrating to the cloud for hosting
workloads.

10Cloud Defining the Workplace of the Future
Amongst the several advantages
offered by cloud models include:
Managing Skill setsAs technology continues to evolve
rapidly, there is an imperative need
for continuous up-skilling of IT
teams. This is a significant challenge
for enterprises, as they would
prefer to re-deploy resources to
managing core business rather than
invest in building a large in-house IT
department.
With cloud computing, enterprises
are able to not only reduce
substantial capital costs with
lower infrastructure management
requirements, but are also reduce
from the need to invest in large IT
teams and continuous trainings on
emerging technologies.
FlexibilityThe ability to scale up (or downsize)
with businesses is another key
benefit for organizations in the
region. Cloud solutions provide
greater flexibility at times of rapid
growth or in case of requirement
spikes.
Over 40% of enterprises in APAC
seek cloud solutions to leverage
the benefit of greater flexibility in
deployments and IT investments.
Pricing modelsAs organizations consider moving to
the cloud, one of the key concerns is
on how the investment will impact
balance sheets. The economic
benefits of cloud computing
is however become clear to
organizations, given the ability to
shift from a Capital Expenditure
based model to an Operational
Expenditure based model.
11Cloud Defining the
Workplace of the Future
Indonesian Enterprises –Time to act
As Indonesian enterprises
compete on a regional and
global landscape, the focus on
collaboration and productivity
technologies is expected to be
on the rise. Further, Indonesia is
considered at the inflection point
of digital adoption, especially
given the maturing provider
ecosystem. Cloud-adoption
spend by enterprises is growing in
double digits. While the key cloud
adoption drivers in Indonesia over
the next 3 years include growth in
online media consumption, backup
and disaster recovery purposes,
and need from an infrastructure
perspective, cloud-based
applications will play a pivotal role
in enabling Indonesia enterprises
to become more competitive.
Given the significant value offered
by adoption of productivity
solutions and maturing cloud
ecosystems, cloud-based
productivity solutions are
expected to witness an increase
in adoption in Indonesia.
Enterprises will need to explore
digital solutions for building a
truly collaborative organization
to compete in the knowledge era.

Collaboration becomes much
easy even when employees are
traveling or work from outside

on a day-to-day basis today than
ever before, Employees report
working with 10 or more people
on a day-to-day basis, and a half of
these employees work with more
than 20 people.
With more dynamic
environments, changing
workplaces and behaviour, many
organisations are still not taking
the steps to to implement this.
Collaboration, for instance, as
we work with more people on a
day-to-day basis now more than
ever before, it may be hard for
organisations to work efficiently
with old work equipments that
does not support mobility and
the BYOD challenge. Since
products and business models
are becoming more complex,
Efficiency in working processes is
a crucial factor that organisations
need to be aware of. Not only

a faster, easier, flexible, and
cheaper IT solution for any type of
organisations.
