Cloud based storage is

“the storage of data online in the cloud”

Most people have more than one computer, a PC and a laptop or a computer and a smartphone. Instead of having to save a file many times (once for each device) or using a USB stick to transfer files between devices, you can store files on the cloud.

Once a file is stored on the cloud, any device that you use online can access the same files.

Files sent to the cloud are stored on a server that is owned by the service provider.

DISADVANTAGES OF CLOUD STORAGE:

FLASH STORAGE WITH USB AND SSD

Solid State Drive SSD!!!!!!!!!!

Controller

NAND Flash

CONTROLLER Component that allows the storage device to interact with the computer and control the way the data is distributed through the Flash NAND Chips

NAND FLASH

Similar to a hard disk drive in that its sector based. However the information is accessed electronically rather than by moving parts.

Why are SSD’s great??

• LESS NOISE!! No moving parts! • QUICKER!! An SSD has access speeds

of 35 to 100 micro-seconds, which is nearly 100 times faster. This faster access speed means programs can run more quickly!

• DURABLE!! They are much more durable than Hard Disks which makes them perfect for making data portable.

• POWER!! The SSD uses less power than a standard HDD, which means a lower energy bill over time and for laptops an increase of battery life.

• RELIABLE!!! Because there are no moving parts and due to the nature of flash memory, the SSD generates less heat, helping to increase its lifespan and reliability.

• MAGNETS? DONT WORRY!! SSD is not affected by magnetism.
