Bioreactor is a device, which supports a

biologically active environment

It is used for the production of different

organisms, which are used in pharmaceutical,

chemical and food industries

Pharma companies: Bayer, Pfizer, etc.

Food & drink manufactures: Nestle, Paulaner

Brewery, etc.

Manufacturer of the bioreactors are

equipment manufacturer: ZETA, VTU, Vogel-

Busch Biopharma, Eppendorf etc.

What is the problem and for whom?

Long calculation time (about a week - caused by the need to run transient simulations up to 20

seconds) without a highly optimized workflow and huge computational resources

Industry requires a calculation time not longer than one week

These computational resources are often not affordable for SME

Why simulation?

Product improvement (e.g. higher cell density, number of viable cells etc.)

Process understanding (e.g. scale up, new impeller design or number of impellers etc.)

Improvement of process criteria (kLa, shear rate, homogenization etc.)

Why Cloud computing for a bioreactor simulation?

Possibility to perform DoE analysis (e.g. up to 25 parallel variants)

In the next three years SES-Tec is planning to increase the actual turnover by 15% of the actual turnover only due to Cloud computing. SES-Tec

We will contact potential customers (e.g. Vision Pharma (2016) and CPHI (2016)) and increase the market in the are of pharma and bio technology

Furthermore, SES-Tec is planning to hire a new employee, which deals exclusively with cloud computation.
