(2) is not possible as the values of some of the variables in the latter equation are not available. The scour contours were obtained from the water levels during drainage of the basin. LETTER TO THE EDITOR Dear Sirs: The purpose of this letter is to respond in an emotional, nationalistic way to the paper entitled “Water Diversions to the North American Prairies.” It is indeed quite predictable that by far “the most marvelous country in the world,” when faced with a projected “need,” disregards national boundaries. What is even more predictable is that we have some citizens of Canada who are willing to sell this country down the drain-if you’ll pardon the pun. Profit gouging knows no national boundaries. The American mind, I have been told, cannot comprehend the concept of quality; their forte is quantity. The use of the term “marginal consumers” by authors Whetstone and
