“I humbly learn while discussing with the people who discover our wines.” Jean-Paul Depeyre, owner and winemaker of the Clos du Père Clément The Clos du Père Clément was founded in 1972 in the town of Visan. The estate is established around an exceptional 17th century building, near the Roman chapel Notre Dame des Vignes, a national heritage site. The estate is located on 55.5 acres of southward facing slopes composed of a rocky lime and clay soil. To honor the first generation of Depeyre’s Winegrowers, the estate has been named after Clement Depeyre, grandfather of Jean-Paul Depeyre, current owner of the estate. When Clos du Père Clément was first established, only half of the estate had vines growing on its land. The two brothers (Jean-Paul and Gérard) and their father expended it to create one of the first independent estate from the Côtes du Rhône Villages Visan AOC. The vines of the estate are established upon the Vaucluse and the Drôme allowing the production of wines from both the Côtes du Rhône and the Drôme regions. Harvest: Grown with meticulous care and going thru organic-conversion , the vines are subjected to careful selection, by parcel and by grape’s maturity, prior to harvesting. The harvest is done mechanically, enhanced by a destemming machine in order to get a perfect result. Hermetic stainless steel trunks are used to carry the grapes to the winery.
