Climb on board The Happy Van!Cantref’s mobile office, or ‘thehappy van’ as some people call it,has been busy travelling aroundthe four counties offeringsupport, advice and access toinformation and is also a socialpoint for many tenants andresidents.

Engaging with tenantsSince May 2013, Cantref has engagedand supported 270 tenants from the van.The outreach vehicle allows Cantref toengage with tenants in the moreisolated communities.

It also offers internet access, which issomething many struggle to afford or get a goodconnection with, in the rural locations.

Working in partnership with Careers Wales,Want 2 Work, Jig-So, West Wales Credit Union, toname a few, ensures that we can offer tenants adiverse service. Careers Wales supported 8clients in their local community with careersinformation and guidance – all from the van.

Helping tenants - from findingjobs to shopping! We have helped people apply for jobs on-line,write CVs, and fill in housing application andbenefits forms. A few have come on thevan to do their weekly online shop.Tenants are welcome to use the facilitiesto access information they require, whether it be transport timetables orcontacting a relative abroad.

Helping othersAt a recent Bring & Take

event, the van wasused to transport

unwanted furnitureto our homeless

scheme - withoutthe van this would not have been possible.

Getting together for a cup of teaand a chatThe van is also a socialgathering point and was used ata recent consultation eventregarding the play areas atCae’r Odyn, Bow Street, and Maes Llanio,Blaenplwyf. The childrenenjoyed hanging out in the van, designing theirplay area, and the older residents enjoyed a chat

and get togetherover a cup of teaand biscuits. We promisedMog Morgan, one of ourtenants, that wewould get hisphoto in thenewsletter, soMog - this one’sfor you!
