Clínica Alemana de Santiago was established in 1905. It is a subsidiary of the
Corporación Chileno Alemana de Beneficencia, a non profit organization that
reinvests its surplus in social projects dedicated to education and charitable
causes. Since August 2008 it has Joint Commission International accreditation.
With over a century of tradition, Clinica Alemana de Santiago stands out as
one of the largest and most modern private clinics in Chile. Facilities are
distributed over 100,000 square meters of floor –space.
This institution also provides clinic and hospital services at its locations in Temuco
and Valdivia (south of Chile) and La Dehesa in Santiago.

Clínica Alemana has a collaboration agreement with Hospital Padre Hurtado, one of
Santiago´s main public hospitals, providing public health care system patients with access to
complex diagnostic and treatment procedures through an extensive health and welfare
assistance program.
Clínica Alemana takes part with Universidad del Desarrollo, in a medical school project,
which nowadays has seven heatlh-related careers.
The clinical campus is Hospital Padre Hurtado.

Over 3.048 people work at Clínica Alemana including physicians, nurses, other health care
professionals and administrative staff, who are in continuous training.
Annually more than 51.710 hospitalized patients receive attention. Clínica Alemana has
425 inpatients beds, 18 operating rooms, 2 post - anesthetic recovery units, a modern
sterilization center, intensive care units for adults, children, neonatology and coronary
disease treatment, among other facilities.

Clínica Alemana has all the back up services for diagnosis and ambulatory procedures:
Clinical Laboratory – which performs more than 600 different type of examinations -
Blood Bank, computed tomography, magnetic resonance, radiotherapy, pathologic
anatomy and a complete Diagnosis Center where all the medical specialists are fully
dedicated to treating patients.
Advanced therapeutic and diagnosis procedures are routinely performed. Angiography,
hemodynamics, lithotripsy and digestive endoscopy rooms have the most modern
equipments.
In march 2007 Clínica Alemana opened a modern building of 16 floors and 27,000 square
meters for appointments with 700 specialists. It also has 4 surgical procedure rooms, an
ambulatory recovery unit, medical specialisms laboratories, hemodialysis, a reproductive
medicine laboratory and a complete medical information center (virtual scientific library).
There is also a parking lot for patients and relatives with capacity for 1,800 vehicles.
Clínica Alemana counts on a General Emergency Service for adults and children and an
Emergency Service for school aged children which was the first of its kind in the country,
and which is dedicated exclusively to treating trauma injuries. Together, this services see
on average over 600 patients a day.
A complete Imaging Department, where advanced invasive and non-invasive procedures
are conducted on a digitalized basis.
Overall patient management and follow –up are enhanced through the use of electronic
clinical records, enabling clinical history, diagnostic images and laboratory examination
results to be available online for hospitalized and ambulatory patients.
A pioneer in prevention, the Clinic counts on a complete Preventive Medicine Service
geared to maintain and protect patients´health by anticipating and preventing risks to
improve diagnosis, treatment and quality of life.
Within this area, the International Patient Service facilitates the coordination and attention
for foreign patients.
The Scientific Educational Department plays a very important role in the professional and
academic development of the medical staff. To fulfill its mission, this department provides
research funding and support, scholarships and organizes a complete schedule of clinical
courses and activities as part of its continuing medical education program. It also
coordinates videoconferences with national and international institutions, fellowship
programs, statistic consultancy and operates the virtual medical information center (CIM).
