Combine it with warm, soapy water and rub to create afetching, durable fabric. No knitting is involved in this type of felt-ing, and no fiber art experience is required to have a great timecreating a one-of-a-kind piece. Beginning Ukulele – The Strum of Its Partswith Deborah LydonYou asked for it! Now a longer course!Obtain rapid, optimum hands-on learning from this class. Bythe end of the first class, you can learn to play three songs.Some of the topics covered will be: simple strumming, finger-picking, melody by tablature, an optional introduction of theelectric bass ukulele and a brief overview of Onsong, a songbook app. Singing along is encouraged and a lot of fun. Sew, You Know…with Charla HenneyDo you have a sewing machine? Do you use it? If you are unsure of how to get started, this is the class for you! A series of simple projects will help you become familiar with your machine and gain confidence in using it. Bring your own sewingmachine if you have one. Little Needle-Felted Animalswith Lisa ThompsonEntertain your imagination with needle felting! This class is designed for beginners – no previous felting or sewing experi-ence is necessary. You can learn basics about the craft of needle felting, how to use a single needle, alpaca fleece (roving) and embellishments to make a small 3-dimensionalanimal of your choice to take home. Winter Sky Islands Birding with Vince PintoTake a birding adventure through three distinct sky islandhabitats. First, tour Raven's Nest Nature Sanctuary and search

Our Instructors

Executive Chef Sue Makin is a graduate from the hospitality program atWashington State University and the Culinary Institute of America in NewYork. She has served more than 30 years in many five star hotels and finecountry clubs across the nation as an executive chef and a pastry chef.Needless to say, she is well-known in the industry. Chef has been a cookinginstructor at the Center for Lifelong Learning for more than three years.She is at home in the kitchen and teaches others how to put fun back inthe kitchen.

Former student: “Chef Makin has mastered the art of cooking while givinginstruction, doing a demo and concluding with four scrumptious chickenentrees.”

Vincent Pinto is a naturalist, ethnobotanist, wildlife biologist and wilder-ness survival instructor. For more than 27 years, he has been teachingpeople of all ages, interests and backgrounds about the natural world.Vincent strives to provide a greater understanding and appreciation forthe uniqueness of our sky islands. He empowers his students with theskills they need to enjoy nature anywhere. Vincent has been filmed inseveral TV shows, including the hit survival show, Naked and Afraid onthe Discovery channel.

Tom Tierney, veteran prospector, saw his first gold nugget at a youngage and has been reading and studying about prospecting since then.He is a native Arizonan – born in Kingman, AZ. Tom grew up on thenorthern edge of the mother-load country in California. His folksprospected in Arizona in the 1930s and handed their passion on to Tom.Tom began mining his own claim in the early 1990s and continues min-ing his claim today.
