In the above mentioned chapter, the author explains how cytogentics is practical to animal science and veterinary science, and then describes how karyotypes are studied. Cytogentic terminology is reviewed. A short review of cyto- genetic infertility is presented. Cytogenetic problems of the stallion are also reviewed w'~tha short discussion of intersexes and hermaphrodites. The a'~ahor explains the outlook for further equine studies in cytogentics. Studies in the mule and Przewalski horse are covered. The editor has added considerably to the book with three appendices; an atlas of selected karyotypes, a glossary of terms, and an extensive description of technical methods. This book is destined to be an important reference on the subject for some time to come.
