Acoustic architecture at the International Business College The IBC Innovation Factory building (International Business College), a former paint factory, located in Kolding, Denmark, has completely been renovated by the architectural firm schmidt hammer lassen. Following an environmentally friendly approach, this new building has benefited from significant work specifically in acoustics and lighting to transform it into a fully functional educational center meeting regulatory requirements. The success of this ambitious project is the result of a close collaboration between complementary actors. Thus the company Ralbo Aps, a Danish CLIPSO certified installer was chosen for the assembly and installation of acoustic stretch ceilings and ceiling panels. The first step was to install the stretch ceilings (495D covering and profile P -CCA) on a metal substructure. Then triangular panels (495D covering and profile P- CPA67) were attached to that first system thanks to a spring suspension system, enabling an easy access to security systems, air conditioning, etc. The addition of LED strips to the hanging panels enabled the diffusion of lighting giving the rooms a cosy atmosphere. The acoustic covering 495D combined with an acoustical absorbent strongly influences the intelligibility of speech. Thus, professors, as well as students can enjoy a better quality of listening and understanding. www.clipso.dk www.clipso.com • Project: IBC Innovation Factory, International Business College • Architect: schmidt hammer lassen architects • City & Country: Kolding, Danemark • Installer: Ralbo Aps • Products used: Acoustic covering (495D) & Aluminium profiles (P-CCA, P-CPA67) Surface covered: 6,458 ft2 ABOUT THE PROJECT ClipsoNews ClipsoNews ISSUE 21 MARCH 2014 ENGLISH Page 1/2 THE CLIPSO FITTERS NETWORK NEWSLETTER

CLIPSO Stretch Ceilings light up the prestigious Hilton Hotel

www.clipso.com

The Hilton Worldwide group has just launched the construction of its new Hotels & Resorts located in the heart of the business and entertainment district of Sukhumvit Bangkok, Thailand. Luxury, comfort and innovation are the main characteristics defining this hotel with a US-Italian design of the 1920s. It offers more than 300 rooms and suites, several restaurants and amenities for leisure as well as business travellers.

As part of the interior design of the hotel, PIA Interior, the number one firm in interior design & architecture in Thailand, relied on the expertise of the company Chingchai & Sons Engineering Co to install CLIPSO stretch ceilings. They fit perfectly with the elegance and harmony of the Hilton Sukhumvit’s original atmosphere. In total, this project required 3,229 ft2 of translucent covering and P-CW profile. A team of 4 people installed

the ceilings for a period of about 2 weeks. The addition of a backlit LED system to the printed stretch ceilings enhanced the dramatic effect of the various areas without altering their atmospheres.

Our clients and various collaborators have expressed their satisfaction: “LOVE IT”. The printing quality of the images is superb for a breath-taking result. In addition, the backlighting provides visual comfort to our guests.
