The winter sports will soon be underway with Hockey, Junior High Boys Basketball

and Varsity Boys Basketball all starting on Monday. Wrestling starts a week later on November

17.

The boys football team is done for the year after a tough loss in Marshall against the

Edgerton-Ellsworth Flying Dutchman with a final score of 14-22. The Dutchman scored

a touchdown with thirty seconds left to win the game. The boys really showed their stuff

during the game, fighting hard and making a great comeback, but a

late game interception sealed up the game for the Dutchman.

A big thank you to the Wolverines, their coaches and all the

fans who made the season the success it was! And good luck to the

boys on their upcoming seasons!

Sam’s favorite famous athlete is Ray Finkle. Finkle is a soccer-style kicker

who graduated from Collier High in 1976, he then became a kicker for the Miami

Dolphins. He lost the Super Bowl for the Dolphins, by missing what would have

been the winning field goal by going wide right; Finkle thought the laces were in! His

failure took a toll on him, and he was placed in a mental insti-

tution for losing the Super Bowl. He swore he would get re-

venge on Dan Marino, for having laces in.

Ray Finkle is actually a fictional character in the movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detec-

tive who assumed the identity of a female detective named Lois Einhorn. In the movie,

Ray kidnapped the Miami Dolphins' mascot Snowflake, and eventually quarterback Dan

Marino himself. Jim Carey is the detective in this funny comedy trying to crack the case.
