Clinical Audit Skills Distance Learning Course
The Clinical Audit Support Centre organise and deliver a broad range of na@onally accredited courses to help healthcare staff enhance and update their skills and also gain professional qualifica@ons. The Clinical Audit Skills Course is aimed at healthcare professionals who want to gain an understanding of the clinical audit process and as part of the course all learners undertake a complete clinical audit project relevant to their workplace. Learners conduct the course on a distance learning basis which is ideal for busy professionals who are unable to aEend training courses and mee@ngs. The distance learning course enables par@cipants to learn at their own pace, studying at @mes that suit each individual learner. Overview Since the incep@on of clinical audit in the early 1990’s, studies have con@nually shown that clinical audits are oKen not effec@ve. Recent surveys have also suggested that professionals oKen confuse clinical audit with other quality improvement techniques and research. This course addresses both of these issues, allowing learners to complete useful clinical audit projects that improve pa@ent care and service delivery whilst also enhancing their professional development by studying for a na@onally accredited qualifica@on. How does the course work? Learners on the course are provided with a comprehensive guidebook and assigned a tutor. Learners then select, design and undertake a clinical audit project relevant to their work. Tutors provide support and advice and learners complete two assessments as part of the course – 1) comple@ng a project plan, 2) wri@ng a final report. The course typically takes between 6-‐12 months to complete depending on the complexity of the clinical audit project selected. Who is the course aimed at? All healthcare professionals who want to learn more about the clinical audit process or who need support and advice undertaking a clinical audit project will benefit from this course. With clinical staff now expected to take part in clinical audit in order to meet contractual requirements and as part of revalida@on arrangements (from 2012), this course is ideal for improving clinical audit skills and genera@ng high quality clinical audit projects. As part of the accredita@on, all audit reports are rigorously assessed by tutors and Open College Network moderators and this essen@ally provides a way of a third party valida@ng local clinical audit projects. Costs The course costs £550+VAT (£660) and this includes all materials and resources (including the New Principles of Best Prac@ce in Clinical Audit book), plus registra@on and cer@fica@on from the accredi@ng body. Learners also gain access to full tutor support for 12 months. If you would like more details of the course, please email [email protected] or call 0116 264 3411.
