Medication Information Medications resources can be found by selecting ‘Medications’ from the left menu. To view an in-depth guide to Medications resources, click on the green ‘More’ button.

• Micromedex* provides generalinformation, drug interactions and IVcompatibility.

• MIMS Online* provides Australianmedication information includingConsumer Medicines Information (CMI),Product Information (PI), Pill ID andproduct images. MIMS also includesaccess to SHPA’s ‘Don’t Rush to Crush’handbook.

• Natural Medicines provides high-quality, evidence-based informationabout complementary and alternativetherapies, diets, exercise and nutrition.

Evidence-Based PracticeEvidence-Based Practice resources can be found by selecting ‘Evidence-Based Practice’ from the left menu.

• OTSeeker contains injury managementresources relevant to occupationaltherapy.

• PEDro is a physiotherapy specificresource that includes tutorials onappraising clinical trials.

• speechBITE is a database of interventionstudies across the scope of speechpathology practice.

• PsycBITE is a psychological database forbrain impairment treatment efficacy.

• BMJ Clinical Evidence containssystematic reviews of treatment optionsand interventions for a variety ofconditions. Organised by topic sectionsincluding musculoskeletal disorders, oralhealth, sleep disorders and lifestyle.

• Cochrane Library includes the databaseof systematic reviews which containsmany allied health related topics. Browseby topic at the bottom of the Cochranehomepage.

• Joanna Briggs Institute databaseprovides systematic reviews, evidencesummaries and recommended practicesthat describe and/or recommendpractice on various clinical topics.

• UpToDate – an authoritative, evidence-based, clinical decision support resourcethat provides regularly updatedsummaries on a broad range ofclinical topics.

Diseases & Conditions• AMED is a database of literature relating

to allied health. It includes information oncomplementary medicine, physiotherapy,occupational therapy, rehabilitation,podiatry and palliative care. Availablefrom ‘Databases’ in the left menu.

• BMJ Best Practice* provides clinicalinformation for diseases and conditionsincluding a summary, diagnostic steps,treatment approaches, guidelines,evidence and patient follow-up.Available from ‘Diseases & Conditions’ inthe left menu.

• Harrison’s Principles of InternalMedicine is an authoritative textbookon internal medicine aimed at allhealthcare professionals. It includeschapters on nutrition and weightloss, inflammatory and rheumatologicdisorders, and metabolism. Availablefrom ‘Books & Dictionaries’ in theleft menu.

• PEMSoft* provides clinical informationfor acute and chronic illness inneonates to young adults. Categoriesinclude growth and development,musculoskeletal, othopaedics and sportsmedicine. Available from ‘Diseases &Conditions’ in the left menu.

• ProQuest is a database of literaturerelating to allied health, physicaltherapy, occupational therapy, nutrition,rehabilitation and alternative andcomplementary medicine. Available from‘Databases’ in the left menu.

• UpToDate – an authoritative,evidence-based, clinical decision supportresource that provides regularly updatedsummaries on a broad range of clinicaltopics. Available from ‘Diseases &Conditions’ in the left menu.

Patient EducationPatient Education resources can be found by selecting ‘Patient Education’ in the left menu.

• AccessMedicine provides over 7,000evidence-based patient educationleaflets in nine languages coveringmedical conditions, treatments optionsand procedures. Also available from‘Diseases & Conditions’ in the left menu.

• BMJ Best Practice* provides over 200evidence-based patient education leaflets.Click ‘Resources’ at the top right of the BMJBest Practice homepage and select ‘Patientleaflets’ to view. Also available from‘Diseases & Conditions’ in the left menu.

• Therapeutic Guidelines (eTG Complete)provides patient education handoutsincluding range of motion andstrengthening exercises. These can bedownloaded and printed. Also availablefrom ‘Medications’ in the left menu.

• UpToDate – an authoritative, evidence-based, clinical decision support resourcethat provides regularly updated summarieson a broad range of clinical topics. Alsoavailable from ‘Diseases & Conditions’ inthe left menu.

• CIAP eLearning Modules** have beendesigned to develop skills to locateevidence-based clinical information,generate an effective search andintegrate evidence in practice.

• CIAP Workshops** providesdetails of full day face-to-face workshops being held inlocations in metropolitan NSW.

• CIAP Live Online Training** providesdetails of short interactive trainingsessions where participants connectonline and by phone with a trainer.

• CIAP Userguides and VideoTutorials** provide printable userguidesand short videos that introduce a varietyof CIAP resources and explain the bestway to retrieve information from them.

Mobile ResourcesYou can browse the CIAP website on your mobile device if you have an internet connection. You will require a ‘My CIAP Account’ to access the resources when browing this way, which you can create from a work computer by slecting ‘My CIAP Account’ from the top menu on CIAP.

Many of the CIAP resources are also available via downloadable apps for your mobile device. Navigate to www.ciap.health. nsw.gov.au on your device and select ‘Mobile’ from the top menu to see what’s available.
