Waterproof protection for dogsWith K9 Advantix® II, there is no need to reapply after a monthly bath or weekly swimming. A study has shown that the combination of imidacloprid and permethrin will continue to be effective after exposure to water – whether your dog has gone for a swim, has been given a bath or has been in the rain.3

This waterproof protection can be used on puppies as young as seven weeks of age. Consider recommending a soap-free shampoo and towel dry before monthly application.

What makes repellency so important?If a flea, tick or mosquito is repelled or killed, it cannot bite or attach and transmit the organisms that may cause disease. Your clients need to know that not all products repel and kill.

Vector-borne diseases are mostly transmitted once a parasite bites or attaches to the host. Even if the parasite dies later on, transmission may have already occurred, and the disease may still be spread to the host dog. That’s why repelling or killing parasites is so crucial in a pet owner’s approach to caring for their dog’s overall health.

The tick, if uninterrupted, may feed for several days on the dog’s blood, sharing whatever bacteria and parasites

The fully fed (replete) female tick will now detach and drop into the environment, ready to lay thousands of eggs and potentially leaving behind, in the dog, agents that may result in diseases such as Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis and

Rocky Mountain spotted fever. The female tick may also pass parasites or infectious agents to her offspring through transovarial transmission.

Fleas and flea bitesFleas can aggravate a dog and affect the way he or she bonds with his or her owner. More importantly, fleas may transmit tapeworms or cause skin problems, such as flea allergy dermatitis.

Imidacloprid, an active ingredient in K9 Advantix® II, is effective against adult fleas and larval flea stages. In addition to its adulticide flea efficacy, imidacloprid demonstrates a larvicidal flea efficacy when the larvae in the dog’s surroundings come into contact with the K9 Advantix® II-treated dog. Another benefit of imidacloprid is that fleas do not need to bite the treated animal to be exposed to the active ingredient.

K9 Advantix® II contains pyriproxyfen, an IGR that contains ovicidal and larvicidal properties to target flea infestations.

Frequently asked questionsHow is K9 Advantix® II different? The formulation contains the active ingredients imidacloprid, pyriproxyfen and permethrin, which work together to effectively REPEL and kill fleas, ticks and mosquitoes. No other company offers a flea control product with imidacloprid.

How long does K9 Advantix® II last? A single application of K9 Advantix® II keeps working for a month. Veterinarians recommend applying every month to help keep dogs protected year-round. Keep in mind that only 5% of a flea infestation consists of adult fleas that you can see on your animal. The remaining 95% of the infestation is made up of fleasin immature stages.2

My dog is strictly indoors. Should I still use K9 Advantix® II?

Yes. Even dogs that spend the majority of their time indoors should be treated with K9 Advantix® II because fleas and ticks can be brought into the home by people or other pets without pet owners even realizing it. In fact, the saliva of most ticks has substances that can prevent their hosts from recognizing they have attached.3

I only see fleas on one of my dogs. Is it sufficient to just treat the infested dog?No. Fleas can jump up to 18.5 inches forward and 6.5 inches high,4 so all dogs in the home should be treated, since the infested dog is likely to pass on fleas to other dogs he is in contact with.

Can I use K9 Advantix® II on my cat?No. K9 Advantix® II is specifically formulated for dogs. Cats have a unique physiology and can’t metabolize certain compounds of K9 Advantix® II.

DIRECTIONS FOR USEIt is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. Do not contaminate feed or food.

HOW TO OPEN1. Be sure tube is at bottom of pouch.2. Using scissors, cut the pouch across the top and remove tube.HOW TO APPLY1. Use only on dogs. DO NOT USE ON CATS or on other animals. Do not apply to dogs weighing less than 4 lbs.2. Remove applicator tube from the package. Use scissors and peel down foil. 3. Hold applicator tube in an upright position. Pull cap off tube.

4. Turn the cap around and place other end of cap back on tube.5. Twist cap to break seal, then remove cap from tube.6. The dog should be standing for easy application. The entire contents of the K9 Advantix® II tube should be

applied evenly to two to three spots on the top of the back from the shoulder to the base of the tail. At each spot, part the hair until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the tube on the skin and gently squeeze to expel a portion of the solution on the skin. Do not apply an excessive amount of solution at any one spot that could cause some of the solution to run off the side of the dog.

Do not get this product in your dog’s eyes, or allow your dog to ingest this product.4-10 lbs.: 11-20 lbs.:

often than once every seven (7) days. After pest control is attained, return to a monthly retreatment schedule.PRODUCT INFORMATIONThe successive feeding activity of fleas on dogs may elicit a hypersensitivity skin disorder known as flea allergy dermatitis (FAD). Treatment of dogs with K9 Advantix® II rapidly kills fleas and may reduce the incidence of this condition.K9 Advantix® II kills existing fleas on dogs within 12 hours. Reinfesting fleas are killed within 2 hours with protection against further flea infestation lasting at least four (4) weeks. Pre-existing pupae in the environment

may continue to emerge for six (6) weeks or longer depending upon the climatic conditions.Larval flea stages in the dog’s surroundings are killed following contact with a K9 Advantix® II treated dog.K9 Advantix® II is waterproof and remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight.Monthly treatments are required for optimal control and prevention of fleas and ticks.For dogs over 55 lbs., do not apply more than 1 tube per treatmentPRECAUTIONARY STATEMENTSHAZARDS TO HUMANSWARNING. Causes substantial but temporary eye injury. Do not get in eyes or on skin or clothing. Harmful if swallowed. Harmful if absorbed through skin. Avoid contact with skin. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling and before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the toilet. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before reuse.HAZARDS TO DOMESTIC ANIMALSFor external use on dogs only. Do not use on animals other than dogs. Do not use on puppies under seven weeks of age or weighing less than 4 lbs. Do not get this product in dog’s eyes or mouth. As with any product, consult your veterinarian before using this product on debilitated, aged, pregnant or nursing animals. Individual sensitivities, while rare, may occur after using ANY pesticide product for dogs. If signs persist, or become more severe, consult a veterinarian immediately. If your animal is on medication, consult your veterinarian before using this or any other product.

Side EffectsMonitor your dog after application, Side effects, although very rare, may include signs of skin irritation such as redness, scratching, or other signs of discomfort. Gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting or diarrhea have also been reported. If these or other side effects (such as lethargy) occur, consult your veterinarian or call 1-800-422-9874.

DO NOT USE ON CATS – MAY BE FATAL.Keep cats away from treated dogs for 24 hours. If applied to a cat or ingested by a cat contact your veterinarian immediately.
