CONTENT (THROUGH LANGUAGE)

The foreign language is learned through topic content

provided in a way that encourages active natural learning

The focus for language learning is NOT on structure or

grammar, but on language use in real-life contexts (to

solve tasks)

COMMUNICATION

The emphasis is put on effective linguistic learning for

communication and immediate use

Language is used as a medium to perform tasks, solve

problems, develop projects, as well as to express ideas

COGNITION

The foreign language (English) is used as a language for

thinking in parallel with the mother tongue

Using English for thinking enriches understanding of

concepts

CULTURE

Learning a foreign language is learning about cultures that

use that language and contrasting them with one’s own

culture

Using English for communication and thinking is a key

competence to function across multilingual globalised

spaces
