SENIOR SINGERS NEEDEDCLIFTON PARK – The Shenendehowa Adult Community Cen-ter’s Senior Chorus is in need of all voices: soprano, alto, bass, and tenor. CAPITAL DISTRICT - Stutter-ing is a frustrating and em-barrassing problem for mil-lions of people, but it can be especially tough on elemen-tary school-age children. Help is available for parents, teachers, and speech-lan-guage pathologists at most public libraries in the form of a DVD designed to help school-age children who stutter. Some libraries have an older video version. The DVD features students from first through sixth grade, some of who talk about their experiences with stuttering. They talk openly about the teasing they face from classmates and how their stuttering sometimes makes them feel about themselves. The 38-min-ute DVD, entitled Therapy in Action: The School-age Child Who Stutters, produced by the 67-year-old nonprofit Stutter-ing Foundation is available free of charge to public libraries nationwide. The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program can provide monetary relief as well as exten-sive case management for veteran families that are home-less or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Temporary fi nancial assistance is available for rental assistance, utilities fees, security deposit, moving costs, emergency supplies, childcare and transportation. Case management and referral services include health care, daily living activities, fi nancial planning, transportation, income support and legal assis-tance.
